Agree with this. I seem to recall when refreshing the bearings & discs ordered from the Internet I was lacked a spacer which I had to buy from the dealer.
Ok, I admit it's maybe a bit of a misleading title. What I'm looking for the best setup for my 172 cup, given the mods I have, how I'm going to use it and the budget I have in mind.
Given the KW V2s up front, do you think a rear coilover kit will be overkill and outclass the front completely...
172 cup running KW V2s at the front; what would people recommend as the best rear setup (springs/dampers/arb) to match the front. Mainly used on track and fast road.
Im on a reasonably tight budget, so whilst Cup Racer rear coilovers would be nice ;-) I've got to look a little bit more down...
To be fair it was my mate who warped them!! I think he probably over brakes/brake early while I'm quite a late braker.
I've removed the fogs, but not yet got round to putting the ducting in.
So it sounds like my discs are probably ok?
If so, do you think that adding some cooling to my brakes will probably be enough to reduce some of the fade and prevent glazing again?
I'm looking for some advice on my brakes; which appeared to have warped discs and now have "got better" by themselves.
Basically, I fitted some new Brembo HCs onto used DS2500 just before a trackday at Oulton. I managed to do some road miles to wear them in a bit, but I didn't do the same...
I'm not doubting that people are getting good results with this setup. However, can someone explain why you would put an additional trailing arm-link when the existing trailing arm setup has a bloody big steel beam linking the two arms?
Would it be worthwhile just welding something the...
seems very excessively engineered.
I wasn't too sure if the cross brace from the front of the engine bay is there to hold the whole thing steady because it's so heavy and could flap about, or if the thing is so solid in order to support the other end of the cross brace! ;)
Anyway, this thing...
Adding a V6 air box into the engine bay and im looking to slightly re-arrange the engine bay.
Why is the ECU encased in a really thick metal enclosure? Is it for strength (can't see why) or to reduce RF interference?
Anyway, am I safe to remove it from this?

I'm looking for advice of what rear suspension setup to run.
I've currently got a mixed setup of KW V2s at the front and the rear spring and dampers from FK Highsport coil over kit.
The car is just used for track days and I feel that the rear setup is a bit too soft compared to the front.
I...
I'd reiterate what has been said about rear dampers. Particularly if the "moment" came when not particularly pushing the car.
My dampers were completely shot, but no signs of leaks. Just back end stepping out and feeling floaty.
One lazy way to check is to undo one of he damper top bolts and...
Hi,
I have a 172 cup, pretty much only used for trackdays.
What oil (make / grade / weight) do people recommend?
As for oil filter, should I just go for the standard Renault one?
Cheers,
Andy
Ok, a few different opinions out there. ;-)
My car is currently set up with FK coilovers which seemed ok for road but I was looking to improve the handling further and have acquired some KW V2s which I have not yet fitted to the car.
The car is set up with 195/50/R15s. The car is sitting...
I've seen a few comments recently saying KW v2 are too soft for track.
For mostly track car, will changing the front springs be adequate? and if so, what weight should I get and where from?
On a related question; what rear spring and damper Setup would you use with your KWs
You are right, it may be bump steer.
I'm not too sure what the toe setting are or camber settings are.
You can see the negative camber if you look at the car on a level surface. I assume this is quite a bit, if it is visible.
I'm running the car on 15 inch wheels with 195/50 tires...

<<Is it proper torque steer? Or is it just the firmer suspension making the front end more twitchy thus suspectible to changes in direction due to road camber, pot holes, bumps etc?>>
Hmmm.....pass!
I referred to it as torque steer because it only occurs when accelerating hard, and I've not...
Hi,
Since lowering the car on coilovers (not stupidly low though, maybe 25-35mm) I seem to get a lot more torque steer.
The alignment was done by the garage when they fitted the coilovers.
Do you think this increase in torque steer is due to negative camber?
Or would it be...
I took off the rears today to change discs/pads and found that the nearside wheel was missing the spacer, I'm sure this is not normal?
I need to get a spacer and the pressed steel sealing ring as well. Any ideas where I can get this from?
