    Standard, Mapped & RSTunner ECU

I can do it on the bench too, so folk who are "stuck" with a map they do not want on their ECU anymore can post it to me for resetting. Just about anything can be done with these ECU's really. If you have a faulty ECU which has a map on it then I can generally take that map and put it on a...

    Standard, Mapped & RSTunner ECU

Apologies for the very slow reply guys, I don't get on to the forum very often. I can clear any map you like without an unlock code. Generally I will upgrade the software while I am at it, then I (or anyone else) will be able to live tune the ECU as if it had never been flashed. Hope...

    Standard, Mapped & RSTunner ECU

Not as such Marc - I have (I think!) each and every version of the factory Renault ECU software in full. That's to say the entire ECU contents, not just it's map. Putting the ECU in to boot mode means you can read & write it's actual firmware and overwrite the RStuner (or whatever else is...

    Standard, Mapped & RSTunner ECU

Sadly there really is no way to prevent reading by those who know what they are doing. But as the current systems stand (RStuner, etc) it is not such a big job to clear the whole lot and return the ECU to factory original so that normal read / write can be done :)

    Standard, Mapped & RSTunner ECU

Hi lads, I tackle this problem by restoring the ECU to factory software so that a custom map can then be created. I've had to do this a few times of late with owners having a fastchip map installed without owning the tool (or original files) to restore it themselves. With a fastchip map...

Uprated Inlet Manifold - Ideas/Thought/Gauging Interest

Maybe its my ageing mind but the injectors looked steeper in the flesh. It could be that the injector sockets are too long and are obscuring some of the spray pattern. There's a few possible causes. Its difficult to know without taking it apart and having a good old look. None of which will...

Uprated Inlet Manifold - Ideas/Thought/Gauging Interest

Hi Scott, 630cc were not the problem, more that we didn't need them to be so large. The steep angle and proximity to cylinder head in your case made it difficult to tune throttle transients. It needed a lot of tip-in enrich, a large but short burst to compensate for the port wetting. An OEM...

    PH1 Cutting out

We'll get there korky, it'll be something silly. Logs show TPS signal to be irratic so suspecting a problem with throttle and/or its wiring currently. PS, it isn't a faulty map sensor. We tried 2 ECU's, and I tested both with a mityvac. It's as if there is some odd resonance at a certain...

    Off to efi parts tomorrow...

I tried lots of brands in the drag car over the years, OEM held up the best. The new engine has ACL. They work fine in the high power Honda's. I think it has a lot to do with you're choice of oil. Harder bearings might be more acceptable with an oil that has a lot of Zinc in it like the Joe...

Yes you can grind one half of the big tooth away to make a normal 60-2 if you need to. Its a double tooth followed by a single missing tooth, so cutting away the latter part of the double tooth means you get 58 even size teeth and 2 missing.

    DIY std ECU mapping

Electrically it's still 60-2 - if the VR polarity is correct it'll scope, and so trigger like a 60-2. The double tooth helps to damp the transient spike you get from a normal 60-2. In other words it could work fine with the VAG. Angles are slightly different, and I guess you'd need to...

Dead right Paul, I won't be releasing with stock software. I had these conversations right at the beginning - far too many hours sunk in to this already ! Low boost only Chip, you're just asking too much of the ECU to deal with anymore. I think in the past guys have used the 225 MAP sensor...

    DIY std ECU mapping

I can send you some full reads if you want to look Faboka, but without decompiling there is not a lot to look at other than the 32kb portion which you can read already. The turbo maps I've driven before have been a bit iffy, odd idle behaviour, VVT jumping in and out at cruise because...

Re boot mode, I don't know the ins and outs sorry, I've not really looked. One of my tools just does it. I can, for example, take the whole software and map out of one ECU and put it in another. Handy if ever an ECU dies.

Alas there isn't a table for MAP sensor Faboka - you can edit RPM breaks but not MAP. This ECU was never designed for forced induction in any application as you know. I've wrote some turbo files using DEKA / 225 injectors and a 2 bar map sensor. OBD reports 45kpa at atmo :) I can't do...

You'll need to defeat the immo before you can read the 32kb, so difficult on the bench. With the right tool you can put them in to boot mode and read/write the full 512kb through the OBD, immo or not. :) I've been doing a little bit of work with the embedded code recently. There are certain...

    197 cams in a 172 cup

A while back I remapped a guys 172 with stock ECU after he'd fitted a pair of 197 camshafts at factory 172 timing with original dephaser. The engine had other subtle modifications and the usual filter and exhaust. It made 188hp with moderate torque increase too. It responded well to keeping...

You can keep all of the creature comforts with a programmable ECU Adey, but of course it's the cost thing also, and it's fun to work these things out sometimes :)

I wrote some turbo maps for stock Clio ECUs recently using an OEM 2bar delphi map sensor. It plugs in to the factory loom and gives a lot more resolution. I forget which car they come from, but it was something american and supercharged.

Adey, each sw version has tables in different locations so an XDF for one 182 is likely to be no use on the next sorry. Not a problem if your writing it for your car only ? You'll need some way of correcting the checksum after editing.

Santa Pod - Saturday 21st June - All Welcome

The black car is Robbie, Turbo ted from ireland. He uses my old 6 speed gearbox internals. I don't think he's snapping the shaft welds, it was the outer CVs the last time I checked. He's switched to the same setup I used which seems OK touch wood. Its an F7P, forged, GT3582R, race fuel and...

    George's TURBO 182

Not really a fault, Georges car wanted a restrictor in the vac line, the signal during vacuum was a little jumpy. These engines with low compression don't pull much vacuum at light throttle and it's critical that we keep that signal as smooth as possible there if we want the car to drive...

Ignore that, the fuel and spark tables look close to linear so 1EA3 won't be load. 1118 and 1139 look like coolant enrich VS temp, 1156 maybe air temp. At this stage you need to be trialing them in a car really.
