Oh well its not much use now to know why the head was ruined lol, the valve guides and valves were new, the head was inspected for damage but it didnt show any, the hidraulic lifters werent, maybe they werent aligned perfectly or something, the head was also milled which doesnt give much margin...
Exhaust valve broke at high rpm and destroyed everything, im installing the head of my street clio (including all pulleys), ill get measurements to see if the head was over-milled.
Is there a possibility that it could be the crankshaft without hearing noise or feeling vibrations, seems unlikely...
Jesus christ, the head is done for, the combustion chamber of that (the same) piston is destroyed and the piston is even worse... ill upload pics later
Mexico.. i guess i can take some pictures but it wont help you much, just a broken valve probably bending the rest in that cylinder and a very dented piston.
They measured the head and its milled 0.020" which shouldnt cause overlap issues afaik, we are going to measure the cam to see if there...
Fitted in what way wrong?
Also if there is overlap shouldnt it happen right at starting or the first time i rev it high at high temperatures, not so randomly? (it did it once at idle, it did it another time after 15 minutes of hard tarmac testing)
We already changed 1 piston (it damaged it...
Well we just opened the engine and it was the same valve: exhaust valve of the same cylinder, the valve guides are also new, the valve springs on that piston are also new... why is the same valve breaking over and over again?
If it were the time slipping why its not hitting the other...
And how could that happen?
The belt was changed the 1st time this happened.
Can it slip without the belt actually jumping teeth? like when the screws of adjustable pulleys slip (i have the stock VVT pulley tho)
Well long story short, after modifying a rally clio with a worked head and some 428s ive bent 2 sets of valves (had to change piston once) and i just cant figure out why since it they broke at high and very low rpms.
Now that it has a new vvt pulley in and they broke again im running out of...
yes timing is correct, took the head to a specialist to see if theres something wrong with the guides but everything seems fine, we put in 4 new valves and 4 new springs (in case one was soft or something) i might change the VVT cam too.
What i want to know is if its possible that a failing VVT...
Well last wekeend my rally Clio 172 broke the valves in one piston, we were very puzzled why that happened since it was low revs and the belt was in good conditions so we had no idea.
So today my mechanic calls me telling me that the valves (of the same piston) broke again, apparently the car...
however it sometimes happens and sometimes it doesnt, on the non-racing stage it happened 3 times, i told my co-driver to get off the car and press all the fuses and stuff and it didnt happen in all the rally again.
Still i want to get rid of this for good and not just hope it wont happen in...
Well my Clio has this electrical bug, a false contact that randomly appears, i dont own a manual so i cant check this by myself.
The thing is that once in a while the light that looks like an electrocardiography (im guessing its fuse related) goes on and the car stops, it wont accelerate or...
Hi, well my 172 suddenly started loosing oil but theres no oil puddles nor any indication of leakage, today they tested the compression and apparently 2 pistons are a little low, 2 are running at 130, other 120 and another at 110, i doesnt look like much but im not very familiar with compression...
This....
Getting ABS is not upgrading the brakes, it downgrading them, you are only adding a safety system that will increase braking distance and give horrible pedal feel.
You shouldnt stomp on your brakes ever, not even in unexpected emergency situations, learn to react properly.
Actually...
the rally one doesnt, the street one does, but it has no cat.
i made a "dyno-run" on my g-tech and it seems the power totally get flat from 5krpm to 7k, it even drops but the cable to download it to the PC is not working and im still unfamiliar with the g-tech so im going to fix this and updat...
Yup i went to day to see an broken clio engine that is in the shop, (the mechanic that told me this is a close friend, not the one who actually does s**t to my Clios).
And yeah the pulley does contain oil duh, i should habe put a bet on it, but he sounded sooo sure about it.
However i insist...
Well, i am from Mexico, i own 2 clios (2004, 172), since i joined this forum i felt very weird when people talked about how the Clios "woke up" at 5,000 rpm, while both my Clios kind of die at those RPMs.
Ive also all the clios of my friend feel the same way, right now im talking with my...
