I bought one of those shifters for my Renault 5 GT Turbo - had to shave a few mm off the alloy bushing to be able to get the circlip properly relocated in the housing.
Two great cars there - my first car was a 1991 8v in Oak Green metallic and I followed that with a 172 Cup.
Good luck with the ARB bushes that can be a fun job ;)
Sell it on eBay so you don't have to bother with test drives :) I got a good price for my 172 cup doing this and the bloke just turned up, paid, and drove off.....
My current 182 is on just over 80k, my previous 172 Cup was on about 75k when I sold it. Engines still tight on both but suspension or engine mount wear might be evident, all relatively cheap to fix though and you've already stated you will lower suspension.
Watch out for 182s still on...
You could argue with Renault that the courtesy car should be like for like, see what they say?
In truth they've probably covered themselves in the terms of their warranty against doing that but why not try it? Explain that this experience could switch you off from the RenaultSport brand.
Don't think you'd be able to exceed this (220-230) by much in a Clio without spending some coin, some of the Meganes come with a limited slip differential which is useful if you want to put serious power through the front wheels.
At least you'll keep nice and warm in these harsh winters with a...
I personally think the standard 1*2 chassis is capable of supporting quite a bit more power than the standard engine produces.
£4k would get you a fairly basic low level conversion IMO, if you're going for crazy power then yes, other things would need to be upgraded.
I went from a 172 Cup to a Megane 250 Cup and have just picked up a 182 to do some track days. Clio is much more engaging and dare I say it fun to drive, also I don't think there is much difference between the Meg/Clio in terms of point to point speed if you're driving a twisty B-road for...
I've got Torque on my Google Nexus tablet which uses Android OS - I think you can get it for iPhone as well. You can read/clear codes and also get real-time data.
You should ideally be replacing tyres in pairs per axle.
Get under the car with a torch and inspect the exhaust, you may be in for a nasty surprise unless its been changed during the cars lifetime. Original exhaust is expensive but lots of other options available.
I have, with the exception of a stainless exhaust custom made to the original 172 Cup format (i.e. single downturned hidden tailpipe). Have owned the car for 4.5 years now.
So I called my local Renault dealer and they seemingly can't get hold of Mondial Blue touch-up paint any more...
I've found this on eBay - anyone tried it and able to offer feedback on the match etc...
