Cheers dude. A Citreon Xsara diesel saloon, doing 30k+ miles now so need something returning 50+mpg. Really miss the Clio and the power but need to save for a house and other stuff now. Getting old and all that jazz.
Thanks. I miss it sometimes tbh. It's scrapped now, was just costing a fortune in repairs on a monthly basis it would need something else. The rack had gone and it was an engine out job so I just sold the engine and some of the parts on, left a bare shell and got that scrapped :(
Just a quick update to this. I believe I've resolved the issue, it was a loose wire on the ECU wiring. The plug itself seemed a little loose and when it was firing on two cylinders pushing on the connector resolved the issue.
I've put some strong cable ties around the ECU and over the clip and...
I've been having an intermittent issue lately with the car showing a flashing ECU light & begins firing on 2 cylinders. It doesn't always happen immediately but it nearly always happens with in 5-10 minutes.
I've read some other forum posts and people mention common things. Here's what i've...
Check out my project thread, I had my car done in Glacier white so it will give you a good idea :)

Are you still after a boot? Apologies if I'm too late or misreading this but I actually have a flushed boot which was plate welded both lock and number plate, it's been smoothed and sprayed and I'm looking to flog it.
Send me a PM if you're interested :)
I didn't get a set if I'm honest. It will be from when I did the engine transplant I'll of most likely used the wrong bolts when fitting it all back in. It's been fine for 18 months but over time the bolt has slackened. Thanks for the info, I'll order a new replacement set of bottom ball joints...
Apologies if this is a repost, couldn't find it via search so here goes:
Can anyone tell me the exact size x length of the bolts/nuts used for the bottom ball joint to the wishbone. Need to order some replacements.
Cheers,
Dean.
@Dweeb clear some storage space. Just tried sending you a PM.
You asked a while back if I still had the old boot lid. I've just put it on eBay so here it is.

Hey, Thanks for the feedback. All the pictures I have are up on-line but I could take some more if you'd like? The screen was done like this;
I cut out the original air vents and separated the casing of the screen to just the front fascia. I then had it fibreglassed/bodged to the dashboard...
Hey, My club membership had expired so my inbox quota had dropped from 50 to 20. I've emptied my inbox now. Nothings changed on the car mate insurance expired in July and it's sat since then as I can't afford insurance on it. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel atm. Got laid off for the 4th...
I used some bolts from ebay that had a led light fitted in to them, to be honest they looked naff and if your contemplating a 172 rear bumper then i'd consider a mk2 ph2 boot at the same time.
sorry for thread high jack here but with so many different products on the market how do you find what is write for you? Is it simply a case of purchasing and trying as that could surely work out extremely expensive quickly?
Or just ask around and listen to peoples advice? I read a rather long...
I'm pretty new to this myself but from my understanding a clay bar is used to remove micro containments from the paintwork before polishing and after washing the car.
It's normally used in conjunction with a lubricant and is just lightly rubbed over the surface of the paintwork. The idea I think...
It's hard to answer the question. There's a whole host of things it could possibly be. Mine displayed similar symptoms and it happened to be the gearbox, the linkage inside had snapped causing none of the selectors to be engaged inside. Does the gearstick feel soggy or do you get a definite feel...
Built an enclosure out of wood. screwed the headunit in using L shaped brackets and then carpeted the box in Accoustic carpet.
The box then got bolted to the lower dashboard. Hope this helps :)
Haha Wilkinson's pick'n'mix one liquorice all sort here, one toffee chew here. No point in doing a car to sit back and look at it ;) car's are to be driven! if you want to make them look pretty a long the way then that's good imo but car's are to be drove not put away. The car gets driven as a...
I've not heard of the "LUX Pack" I'm assuming thats short for luxury pack which includes keyless entry?
Yeah I'll be putting Keyless entry & Keyless start, at the moment I'm looking for a nice CAT1 alarm which allows an external input to disable the alarm, that way the keyless entrys signal to...
I have a key fob which controls the poppers or there are buttons under neath the mirrors which are supposed to be water proof which also pop the doors open when the car is unlocked. I'm going to be honest though the buttons whilst thye are supposed to be weather proof during the winter they...
Ye you're both bang on the money there I suppose. I'll definitely have to pop along then. Will be nice to go along to an organised meet with petrol heads and not the local rif raf near mine which go to Tynemouth 'strip'. They tend to be a little more in to doing wheel spins and anti-social...
Sure. I'm not hugely active on the forums and I've been a little nervous about going to a meet as during the majority of the project log the car was met with quite a lot of strong negative criticisms and whilst its easy to shrug it off over the net and laugh it off, I might be a little more...
Ahh I forgot to include pictures of the new rear end.

I also fully intend to replace the wing mirrors in favour of the standard ones as the M3 mirrors are a complete nightmare they massively reduce my visibility and mean I have to merge very cautiously (not a bad thing) but...
Yeah there's actually loads of updates I've just been hoarding them away till everything was fully sorted. I'll post up a couple of sneek peaks.
Couple of things that have changed since last update;
Full stainless system (Fitted by AAS in Newcastle)
Alloys sprayed black
Headlights...
