I've recently bought 4 used medium hankook full slicks in 200/580/15 but one of them isnt usable so only have 3. These dont come up often used so doubt I'll get a single or even a pair withoutbuying new. I also would prefer a wider rear tyre.
So a pair of new medium Dunlop CR311 tarmac rally...
200 is defo more track focused and quicker with better handling. Parts are much cheaper as well. Only downside would be reliability as the Civic seem better in this aspect, but if you budget in a gearbox rebuild and cam service if not already done you will be good to go.
Rumours they'd offered Lotus the 2ZZ engine for the Elise so didn't fit one to the roadster as it would have reduced sales of the Lotus, lol.
As mentioned have a look at the Celica T-sport, cracking cars. Loved mine and why I went for a 2zz MR2.
Good shout, and will just be just as quick as a Clio. T-sport is a must though as most of the older 190's are dust these days. Had to scrap mine due to terminal rust.
Octavia is pretty much the same car. It has extended rear chassis rails for the extra space and obviously the interior and body shape but the chassis, running gear, engine, gearbox is exactly the same. Have a look through my YouTube channel for how they go on track, there's even a vid in there...
Which MR2 did you try the Roadster? CTR is a good shout but there are so many dogs it untrue. Ive just helped a mate buy one and the amount that have been clocked, abused or just rusted away is crazy. They all seem to be in the midlands as well which after this recent experience i'll never look...
I thought the Clio had decent performance when I first bought mine. That was coming from a 300hp/300 ft-lb MPS 6. Seating position and steering wheel is terrible I agree but easily sorted. A induction kit and exhaust really does bring the car alive not in performance so much just the drama and...
Looks like good fun Mark. Bet the power steering pump takes a beating though? Need to try one in the MR2. My sense of direction is shocking though and would no doubt mess it up.
Hot engine oil will usually make it's way back down to the sump within 10 minutes. Never really seen much difference in leaving it over 10 minutes and over night, 100ml or so difference maybe. Done a lot of dipstick level testing recently after my bottom end went due to low oil.
Pagid DOT 5.1 is fine. Used it in all my track cars over the years. You can get a 5L from ECP for the price of 1L of ATE type 200.
Also used ATE type 200 and Castrol RBF for comparison.
Someone wants my windscreen from the Octavia I'm breaking but not a clue how to remove it. There's no rubber seals on the outside.
How the hell do you remove them?
For the sake of £30 I've offered it at I just dont think it's worth the hassle?
Seat time 100%. Brakes and tyres done and suspension and bushes fresh and just enjoy. I loved mine in this form. Once you've reached the limit of the car you'll know what you need.
