Ongoing issue that's driving me mad, hopefully someone can help here?
Door open light on the dash is on permanently now!
I have tested the boot switch (works fine) and the front door pins have been replaced with new units (only 3 door).
Problem still persists. The light went intermittent and...
Well I have looked into this a little further yesterday.....
I figure the boot light is dealt with on a tilt switch or similar and that works fine as it should.
The boot latch part has 2 wires going into it and you can unplug it further up the loom .... Is it possible that the internal switch in...
I am currently hopeful that I am very wrong with a fault!
Since I have had the car, the door open warning has been on the dash. At first I thought that the light was due to damaged door pins ..... Wrong!
I have replaced the front door pins with working and brand new items. Checked the boot...
Ok, I have been away from these pastures for a very long time ..... Guess it's high time that I returned!
11th June I picked up this little Clio (making total owned up to now 4, I only have this one currently ).
I didn't really give anything for it. I had a Mondeo that I didn't want anymore...
I have a Jc5 089 gearbox and F4R 732 engine (engine is missing injectors, Coil pack, throttle body, inlet and exhaust)!
Engine ran just fine in the car it came out of and comes with a JC5 089 gearbox (purchased from Decco on here a couple of weeks ago) gearbox is supposed to be recon but never...
I have an engine and box out of car (used of course) just needs collecting .... £130 for anyone interested because it's really in the way! Came out of a running car with 108k on the clock but no idea if it's genuine mileage or if the engine was replaced at any point and has a jc5 089 box with it...
Car is now broken and have a few parts left over ... shell has been scrapped as it was a massive stress and a pain in the a*se!
The gearbox just wouldn't go back on and I lost patience .... I broke a window with the breaker bar and decided to get shut of the piece of junk!
I have the engine out...
I'm sure someone will come along that has done it before .. they usually do!
Someone must have done this before, I tried to remove the airbag ECU but these don't work the same way as a Saxo does. Must be linked into the main ECU somehow, however I have been told that you can remove pin7?? from...
O.k, if this gearbox job goes well on this damn 172 ph1 I have .. It will be time to move onto to other issues!
Most annoyingly is the Airbag / Serv light being on all the time (due to airbag issues)! This is only such a problem as some r****d (or maybe retarded moron) thought it would be a...
well my shell is fairly solid, of that I'm sure. Very minimal surface rust on one rear arch and some trim damage ... but that's not bad for 15 years old I guess! This car would look alot better if de barry'd as I prefer the stock look and the wheels I have with the car are disgusting and out of...
according to owner before last the engine is around 48k when fitted and belts were done then (2 years ago) and after taking off the top engine mount/ cam belt top cover plate thingy, the timing belt does indeed look fairly new ... aux belt looks to be getting ready though and a swine of a job...
bought the flywheel ... this car has some sort of evil hold on me lol ... threatened to scrap it about 100 times in 2 days but there is at least light at the end of the tunnel and at least the flywheel is going to be sorted out ! ... onwards with the clutch fit !!! (when I buy one that is)
just so we all can see how much of a barry owned the car last here are some badly taken pics of it lol ...
and this is the automatic heap I swapped for it .... *lol*
Spoiler is now removed and I hate the wheels but it was a fair swap ... just need to know if that flywheel will do because...

Sorry about being annoying is this the right one and will it work ok??
That is a very good point you make, I am finding some of the parts fairly hard to get at sensible prices ... main engine mount seems to be an issue @ £54 for a standard one ... I'm also told that the flywheel has to be right as there are more than 1 kind fitted to the 172's! There are however...
no point debating it really ... 3 of us spent 2 days (would have been one if we dropped the whole thing in the first place) trying to get this gearbox out!
We tried to drop the one side of the subframe ... we even used brute force ... it wouldn't move .... so we had to drop the whole thing...
well the gearbox is off the car ... what a mess it is indeed, wish I never started this.
In my opinion the car is nothing more than a breaker with a massive list of issues that gets longer each time I do something!
So far we have found the following issues :
Top engine mount has snapped, Dog...
Sorry for not replying earlier ... Going to have a go at getting the other side dropped this afternoon and see what happens.
If the subframe drops that side with no problems I guess we can start getting everything else out (I am never doing this again)!
If we encounter huge problems and can't...
