Airbag & SERV lights still on after replacing airbag ECU module, but no fault codes

  Renault Clio Sport V6 255
Hi guys, would really appreciate some help as MOT runs out in a couple of days. Had a mechanic do some diagnostics and he said it needed a replacement airbag ecu which he then fitted, Ran tests again and no faults found but lights still on. My car is a 5 door 2004 Clio Dynamique dci 100 and the airbag ecu donor car a 3 door 2005 dc 65i Extreme. I've since read that the airbag ecu needs to be configured to my car but my mechanic is saying that if both cars have the same airbags then there shouldnt be any configuring needed. I kind of see what he is saying as each car has same airbag ecu part number (apart from an 'A' on the end of one) and similar placed airbags, so what would be the difference in configuration of the airbag ecu between the 2 different models that would cause the Airbag & SERV lights to stay on? Thanks for any help!

Needs config looking at and changing to suit and checking no crash data stored. Dci extreme is pov spec so probably something to do with seats or similar at a guess.

Easy fix with clip. What area are you in.

Thanks for such a quick reply Brigsy, I'm in Billericay, Essex. Don't think there is any crash data as I actually own the dci Extreme, bought for spare. Bodywork isnt damaged and dont remember ever seeing any warning lights on the dash.

So I've checked the Extreme seats and they indeed could be the issue as no side airbags, whereas the Dynamique does. My mechanic was a bit puzzled when I told him as it didn't throw up any fault codes when doing his diagnostics, but should it have done though? Anyway, assuming this is definitely the problem, how much am I looking at for the airbag ecu to be reconfigured to the Dynamique?

I think he will struggle without clip or a renault based diagnostic to code them out. Codes will be stored with clip, should be easy to see if looking at trigger line resistances if you have access.

Wont cost too much at AW Motorworks.

So I managed to source an airbag ecu from a car of exactly the same model and still the light stays on. MOT runs out today so no idea what I'm going to do now 🤔

Might sound too simple but have to checked the wiring under the seats?
