I did, I actually got through both supplied tubes in trying to fit the one wishbone! I can't actually re-try until I get some more.
Wife asked earlier if I reckon I'll have it done by end of May! Not sure at this rate.
I think the problem is I bashed the sleeves in. I thought I had them all the way in but on having a look today there is a slight gap on one side. It would definitely be easier with a press. I'll have a go at getting them in further tonight.
Don't worry I certainly won't be attempting anything...
Okay my 172 destroyed a set of pilot sports in less than 1500 miles so I decided to refresh the front of the car before getting the tracking done. The koni dampers were nearly new, fitted by myself a few months earlier, but I thought I'd do arb bushes, track rod ends, lower ball joints and...
Sounds a perfect spec. for production plus. Also you'll be in the company of many other clios in the tricolore.
I'd also be very, very surprised if the 750mc offering isn't very competitive with some very big budgets to match.
I think Andy has summed up the costs pretty well. I race in TARCs mr2 series and the costs are broadly similar. You can occasionally pick up a car for around £1500 for that, although £3k is more normal. But it really isn't the cost of the car that drives the cost. Close one make racing does...
Having to wear something was a pain. That's not a criticism of the device or the rule change or anything, but I just found it awkward to get used to. Clipping the device to the helmet was fiddly on your own. I did find it was easier to leave it attached. When they then hold you for ages...
I went for the Simpson hybrid. It annoyed me to start with, but towards the end of last season I didn't really notice it. I did find I got in the car a lot sooner before the race though as it is more of a faff, so it's definitely less sociable.
I liked the idea of lateral protection and...
The mr2s ran on DMACKs for 2 races. They were useless in the wet and fell apart in the dry. They literally went off after 10 minutes and were fit for the bin after that. They were gone by the second race.
The production regs are pretty similar to the mr2 regs so I'm fairly confident in saying you can remove almost all the interior, just keep the dash. But remember you need door cards of some form, not necessarily the originals, but certainly some form of covering.
Talk to tony and pop and see a...
I did a search on here for the best place to jack it, I found a post recommending the chassis rail so went for that. I think my big mistake was using the wood.
I've now down the two front shocks and am quite pleased with myself for doing them myself despite the damage I've done to the car!
Right, I haven't given up. I now have the car on axle stands and have removed one front shock assembly. That's enough for tonight. Despite the damage I actually feel pleased with myself!
As to why the wood snapped, really not sure but I will confess that we are having building work done at...
Okay I am starting to feel better about it. I only decided to do the job myself because I thought it was time I learnt a bit more about the mechanical side of things. Could have got the job done in the garage for less than the money I've spent on tools and they wouldn't have wrecked things.
