My friend brought his to Elvington on Sunday - brand new tyres @ £150 a piece - trashed the fronts in 3 sessions - very expensive. Especially when you see the 172 tyres are £40 ish a pop !
There is lots of wheel spin when you turn things off - they are quick on the road bit not too great...
The R is v quick - my mate has one but it does a lot of the work for you, bit boring IMO - the build quality is pretty sh1te but it is fing quick ... with a capital Q.
It also looks ok in Red - i tried to covince him to get Black but the wait was too long - i like the red know - those horrible...
Be careful with what you get working through windscreen - my V1 doesnt work in the 172
Have a look at http://www.autostyle-solutions.comhttp://www.autostyle-solutions.com - Tigga is doing the Origin Blue i for £299 - bit of a bargain me thinks - go into solutions, then 3rd party

You mention price - but you can pick up a s/h Elise for a similar price as a cup - but having a warranty can be nice at times too!
The Elise is so much more of an involving drive though - much prefer it to the 172

There were a few that had VR6 engines put in them - remember seeing a pickup version at the Pod a few years back - it was quick to say the least!
You cant polish a turd though ... but it is fun having a car everyone thinks is crap and kicking butt :-)
Simon
Will try that myself - was gonna get them to have a look next week at the 12k service.
My 4k vibration has disappeared though - so only a couple of minor things to moan about now!

I was reading this months EVO today and the chap was saying that it is coming up for its first service .... his mileage is 19k odd. What are the service intervals on the cup - i assume its the same as the normal 172 ? 19k will be quite overdue !

Also bear in mind some companies do offer track day insurance for free. It also depends where you go - some tracks have more run off so not as important as less chance of hitting anything
Tescos do give track cover with their policy - as long as you are not racing and its not timed.
Simon
Circuit driver also do a circuit guide that you can buy from them - they do UK tracks and overseas tracks - well worth a look - very detailed - bought the UK one and heard good things about the overseas one
Going there at the end of Feb hopefully :-)
First visit - cant wait !

lol
"Youre right about the stonechips thing, one owner i know covers the whole front with a protective film and gets it replaced every month but he used it as an everyday car which is frankly stupid."
Sorry - this is sh*te :-) the paint is not the best due to the GRP body but if you get...
