So I have a 2007 197. It’s has the auto lights, xenons with cornering lights and auto wiper packs.
The day I picked it up (three weeks ago) the auto wipers worked fine.
Orange spanner and ‘auto lights electrical failure’ appears on the dash, auto wipers now don’t work and headlights have gone...
I work for BMW UK in a powder coat and diamond cut wheel facility.
The lacquer itself is very rarely uv resistant that I’ve ever experienced, usually the basecoat itself is uv resistant.
Through experience, the only time we’ve had wheels go off colour is where a water based, non powder coat...

So in a attempt to gain some access to my manifold I have removed a part, that I now cannot replace. Two nuts sit in the subframe itself have moved and I cannot access so what I want to know is, the piece pictured... is it important and can I leave it off... looks to me like a skid plate of...

New top mounts, bearings, cup shocks (genuine, new) and lowering springs, oh and a good clean...
Could be many things, I had the same problem.
try the plug that goes into the back of the throttle, give it a clean, clean the throttle whilst your there.
Also check spark plugs, leads and coil pack.
I found just because it tells you the fault, don't assume that's the entire cause

So box removal day started like this
A bit on the cold side,
Wheels and hub nuts off,
Much swearing later and broken subframe captive nuts, me and a friend finally have it off!
By the end of the day the box is out, thankfully!
Next day box is taken off to be fully refurbed so I find myself...
