really why is there so many done wrong ? checking it is easy just remove the caps and put the crank pin it hand crank the engine to the stop and put the tool in the end

They have been used on 3 different engines and one of them dyno at 181 hp and none of them had this problem

yer thats the one and the crank pin no around the 30-32 mpg but still smells fuelly on idle and in the oil

right when to my mates today and checked the timing it is spot on. Then we checked the compression and his gage reads 192-195 on all cylinders which is good but means my gage must be wrong. So the problem still exists of the low power and other problems. It like its over fuelling my mate also...

If I got the tool how would I change the timing ? Is the a guide ?

i also for got to mention that all 4 cylinders have a compression of 130 which is low

he said he head the tools thats why i got him to do it is there any way to check the timing me self with out the tools ?

A mechanic i know which my family has know for years has a good representation as well but it seams strange

Had my timing belt done a little while back and has been low on power. Symptoms i have pops a bit when cold letting off throttle low power smell a bit fuelly and obd say the ignition timing at idle around 12.5-16 when hot dont know if this is right also the oil smells fuelly lumpy idle...

Ok thanks still looking is it under the seat its self or under the carpet as it is painted red so was thinking it would be closer to the body work

I have also noticed that if get about 3000 rpm and give it full throttle i get a bit of a rattle which makes me think valves but i dont know if they all have a rattle in that scenario

got it the other day was about £20 i could take it to work and check it against a calibrated pressure gage.
