Nope, all youve got to prove (if you need a warranty claim) is when the car was first registered, thats it. I had a warranty claim on my 172 (2002) and the dealer just wanted my V5 to confirm when it was registered, nothing else.
Its a crafty way of putting off would be importers, all the manufacturers do it.
Im pretty sure if you ask your local dealer to extend your warranty to 3 years theyll do it, especially (as bambam said) you have to get it serviced through them to keep the warranty valid. Itll probably not cost...
I was under the impression the 3 year warrant consisted of two elements.
1.) 12 months manufacturers warranty (international)
2.) 24 months dealer warranty (uk only)
