Ye hard to tell much from those pics mate, and if it is chips that's making your paint look dull then Iv not come across any detailing method that erases chips. Maybe get a quote for painting the bumper whilst it's in the shop.

Really helpful thread, I too am strongly considering my first 182... I don't have quite a long commute as you as I only do 6-7k a year but every now an again I do a decent journey up to Manchester from stafford.

I have 7years no claims, I did a very quick quote on compare he market and came out £360 with an £80 excess. Think it was with quote me happy...I do have my mrs on as a named driver so don't shoot me if yours doesn't come out the same...

I'm sure as expensive as Marc is he does not charge 2k+ and yes paint work shouldn't get in such a state after a couple of washes all I ment was over time it won't look as fresh as the day it was painted...don't forget that body shop lacquer won't be as tough/hardwaring as manufacture lacquer.

If it were me, I'd leave it as the fresh paintwork will soon look just as cobwebbed and swirled as the rest of the car after a few washes maybe a few more depending on how you was your car (two bucket method) if you still notice the difference after a month or two get some one that knows what...

IMHO it looks too deep to flat and polish...and you'll end up rubbing through the clear coat trying to get rid of it...You never know tho if you do try this just go steady do bit by bit (know the limit) if you are unsure get your local body shop to have a go failing this just get them to paint...
