Nice. I guess. If you like that sort of thing.

Here's a picture of a rabbit eating some pineapple as I have nothing constructive to say !

Looks nice.

For me it would have to be 3 door, you've got the best wheels, though.

What's the reliability like on the DSG boxes

As said before, I love it personally. Would probably be my choice of R32 for commuting.

I reckon a bargain E92 330i manual next before you realise you miss the auto for the commute and get another cheap E46. All before Christmas lol

Ps. Can I borrow it while you're on holidays? :p

I still haven't made my mind up on these.

Generally, I don't like vag. It's all played a bit safe don't you think?
I make a small exception for the R as it does have a good engine note, but I don't know why you would own one over an M3.

Ive not driven one so I can't comment on how it drives, my mate has one and his makes an awful racket...ok I lie, it's him making the noise complaining about the mpg!

It will undoubtedly make a great motorway bus, though.

What does the M3 have over a mkv R32 ?? Genuine question ... Never driven a M3. Although I do know the R32 sounds better, much better IMO

Because the M3 contrary to popular belief isn't the best car ever made.

A very safe purchase.I like these a lot but its not special enough to warrant the mpg.Is it the higher tax band also.?

Nice enough though.

The sound is subjective, both sound awesome tbh.
As a drivers tool the m3 is better; rwd and a 50:50 weight distribution is a winning formula. It's significantly faster too.
An m3 is just more special.

I don't recall saying it was?
The reason for comparison being essentially they're similar cars, similar prices and similar running costs.

As a drivers car it may be better but what car would i want to drive day in day out? The r32 and thats from an m3 fanboy!!!

E46's are old hat now, the mk5 still feels modern if only the r32 was a little quicker.

Oh but Gally, it is! Thats half the problem for me. The M3 is simply too capable, & too fast to have fun in on the road imho :dapprove:

At low speeds its like driving a rocket powered truck, everything is obscenely heavy, so commuting in traffic is quite frankly awful. Once you're moving its fine, but at 'normal' everyday speeds you question why you are bothering, its just too quick to nail it everywhere, so you yearn for the easy laziness of a 330i. But then when you do give it some, it is flipping amazing, but at that point you are either: well into licence losing territory, or well into the nearest forest, backwards, if it all goes wrong.

A very safe purchase.I like these a lot but its not special enough to warrant the mpg.Is it the higher tax band also.?

For my commute, & general driving around, the R32 is going to be better than the M3 imho. At the end of the day, i sit in traffic, with millions of other people trying to crawl into west London each morning, the only excitement is the two roundabouts - one at each end. In addition, having hated autos for years, it does make the journey considerably less tiring/easier. I'm probably a bit of a convert in that respect.

I'd agree, the M3 is quicker, and imho sounds, steers and handles better. But as a daily, sometimes doing 85-90 miles a day, i found it a little too much.

Both should be about the same on fuel, road tax is more on the golf, but its cheaper on servicing/consumables/insurance.

I see the attraction of the e92s but the 46s do nothing for me in terms of looks. I also find the exhaust note is nothing special . Almost "tinny"

Wonder how long until this gets sold in place for your 2661184465959millionth BMW?

Still looks lovely and very understated in Grampa spec

lol. I'll keep you posted ;)

Just phoned VW to find out how much the DSG oil, Haldex & brake fluid change is. Answer?

25-30% more than the Gti. Purely 'because R32'. No other reason.

Booked it into my local specialist instead. Muppets.

Gti doesn't have Haldex. It costs sweetie money to have it done. Haldex oil is like £10 for me!

looks gorgeous, lovely in silver :) Not a massive fan of mk5s, but I'd definitely make an exception for this!

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf
As a runaround car and a short lived one what made you go for this over the old shape.?

Just down to running costs and tax really.?

The old one isn't a patch on the MkV. You'd be mental to buy one over a 5.

I've heard of it being called more raw. It just has too much Mk4 about it. Quite dated inside etc. dave couldn't own a Mk4.
