Evo 6 GSR UK Ralliart Project Thread - calum001

Now i've got a bit of a silly question but it seems the Evo 6 seats are the same type of Recaro as the Trophy seats so therefore will fit onto a Clio subframe and fit into a 172/182?

Very nice car, has a lot of potential and all your plans sound great.

  Focus RS Mk1
nice :) ihave a 5 GSR, check ou my prject thread on the MLR username Sean.

cheers again lads

theres pros and cons to driving it like, funnily enough more people do move over for you as soon as they see you in their mirrors but.... it also seems to bring out every r****d on the road that automatically thinks you want a race or are a dick for owning one

yeh i think they are very similar in design Rawb (as in same type of seat) but the Evo seats won't be able to be leaned forward like it needs to be to get in the back of the clio (due to the 3/5 door difference)

alright Sean, yeh i seen your thread a while ago and it was yours and another guy on heres that got me thinking about them ! I'm sure i actuallly spoke to you on MLR about yours before i bought mine (same user name on there) ?

  Focus RS Mk1
yeah same username :)

they are good cars if taken care of :) mine hasnt let me down really, although ive only done 800miles this year!

  Track 172cup
yeh it was always something i was prepared for Sean, no point in buying something like it and not taking car of it and skimping with running/maintaining it, all or nothing imo

cheers Moby

started refurbing the other standard OZ wheels ive got for it tonight but they need a bit of work so will prob take me a while, hopefully might have them on for the 27th but need to get the new engine in the Clio aswell, looks like i'll be camping out in the garage for the next few weeks !

just a wee update, got it on the dyno at Extreme Motorsport in Whitburn today at the Scottish CS meet and it produced 288.5bhp (238.6bhp atw) @ 7000rpm and 255.8lbft @ 4800rpm

mine are holding up pretty well Gaz but i have to admit they get oiled/greased up and protected with wax/sealant when the wheels come off for a clean

  Track 172cup
they got thorough clean a couple of months ago and were holding up ok (they did have a couple of rust spots though), they've been on since September 2010 btw, i take it you've got them on yours (can't see what you've got from your avatar) ? how you find them ?

aye def get yourself up there Lee, best road i've been on so far (single track for most)

Yeah had them on my 200SX since Summer 2010. They're great, other than the fact they seemed to rust up no slower than any other coilover. Hate to think what the previous ones were like!

  Track 172cup
aye theres so many coilovers that have the 'anti-corrosion' coatings (even KW etc...) but it's all just a sales pitch as i've not seen a set up coilovers a couple of years old that haven't started to corrode

Just spotted this thread :0 good find mate

Im planning on geting a white 6 or maybe 5 around june, i cant wait.

Hows it going? Any tips with buying one?

  Track 172cup
cheers for all the comments, i shouldn't have posted an update though as i'm 50/50 on whether to sell or not (even got the for sale ad written last night) so anything can sway me right now lol

wocka - i love it mate (as you might have already guessed), the main things i'll say is take your time looking for the right one as there are a LOT of dogs out there that haven't been looked after (it's the kind of car a lot of people will buy for 6 months and thrash the crap out of it then sell on, just to get the t-shirt sort of thing) try to get one thats as standard as possible (or been modded well and not just had bolt on parts for the sake of it)

other main things to check - the condition of the underside (check when it was imported and if it has been regularly undersealed), full service history is a must imo as it will show how it's been looked after and as the AYC fluid is changed every 4.5k miles so pretty important to keep it up as it can cause issues if not maintained, check the AYC light comes on when the ignition is switched on and goes off after a few seconds

Don't subject the HSDs to a salty winter, the super duper anti corrosion coating isn't all it's cracked up to be, and I smoothered mine in anti-seize to help protect them.

Yep, my meisters were the same (and they were supposed to have 120 hours of full salt bath testing..)

I antiseized, ACF50 and then covered them with some coilover socks.

  Track 172cup
i was going to buy the coilover socks but tbh water/salt/dirt will find their way in somehow and then all it's doing is keeping it damp inside, wasn't sold on them

Cheers calum. I will defo keep that in mind. One thing tho, whats AYC? Its early lol brain isnt working

Just read up on it, sounds impressive. Thanks again mate, will post pics up wen i have one and watch this thread

as you've found out mate it's Active Yaw Control, which in simple turns is an onboard computer that tries to kill you lol !! don't get me wrong it works well and obviously is part of the Evo's great handling but it takes a bit of getting used to !

Hello sailor! How's it going?

I've seen this car in the flesh and it's a crediyt to Callum.

Have a look here for the coilovers mate... http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000P1C8UO/?tag=cliospnet01-21

I put it on my new shocks and springs almost a year ago and it's still working away. Look at Swisswax motorshine (polishedbliss) aswell mate. Not cheap but might be worth it. :)

  Track 172cup
Happenin bud ! I'm not bad cheers, you ? I'm just enjoying the peace now Craigs away down south ! He's still managing to wind me up sending me pics of his new pot of SV Crystal Rock though lol

ah nice one just had a look and might give it a go, never noticed that SV did something like that aswell !

i've been meaning to do a pre winter protection detail on it but been too busy detailing a few other motors the past month that i've not got round to it yet, need to find some time soon to get it done !

Indeed mate. I'm just popping down to snowfoam the Frp tonight at the unit and give it a wash with gwash. Not been washed since the detail.

PW brings off most of the crap due to C1 anyway! :) Your's is a big bus so finding the time is hard!

I keep meaning to throw him a text. Only spoke to him a couple of times since he left! Definite peace and quiet though! ;)

  Track 172cup
haha actually thanks for reminding me, need to get Craig to send up a bottle of C1 as i'm going to give it a go myself, really need to give it a quick going over with the rotary aswell tbh

aye he seems to be keeping busy anyway ! DW has been quiet without him posting as much haha

talking about snowfoam............have you tried or did u get a sample of the TWCSF from Stuart ? used it at the weekend there, frightenin stuff !

I got it mate. Me and Craig had already used it on that previous detail but it smells amazing. You impressed? You only need like half an inch in the bottom of a litre bottle and it's like shaving foam.

I have so much snowfoam to use up. Got some cotton candy aswell. Need to speak yto Ronny about that wheel cleanse sample he was sending me. Was quite impressed when me and Craig used it.

I think you'll be fine with C1 mate. I wouldn't recommend anyone using it but you knwo what you're doing. Would bloody hate to try and apply on a white car though!

  Track 172cup
ahh so you did ! Yeh the foam from it is really impressive and i only used about 50ml of it in 1L (not even a cm in the bottom) and it was enough to do 2 cars easily, wish i had some acti-mousse left to try against it for cleaning power with a touchless wash

not used cotton candy and i heard the 2 of you talking about that wheel cleanse the last time we met, sound good

haha aye a bit of a baptism of fire doing it on a white car first, plan of attach is to get the halogen lamps set up so i can hopefully see it going on ! just need to try and see if i can borrow my pals unit or a garage for a day or 2...
