Another ABS issue...

Woke up to this now (see attached) no abs and braking bias now 50/50. Getting really sick of this car now. Having a read and could be an abs sensor but not sure this would give the lights I've got and disable the abs?

Yeah first thing I tried was the fuse, no difference. Checked the harness to the abs pump as it's been changed recently and seems fine. I did find metal shards all over the front sensors after bedding in the 4 pots, maybe this has caused the issues, tried wiping them and spraying with contact cleaner but no different. Can't even pull them as the torq bolts are rounded. Gonna get the jet wash in there in a bit and pull all the connections and clean with contact cleaner.

Just when I think it's ready to go this happened and to boot my sparco 15"'s don't fit over the 4 pots which have just been rebuilt, re-sealed with skimmed discs and new pads.

Right, the car has just been hooked up to the diagnostics and in the live data within the abs system with the ignition on the nsf,osf & osr where reading 0.3 (not sure what measurement it was as I was in the passenger and it was sunny so couldn't see the lcd) the nsr was reading 0. The guy then reversed 5 yards and went forward again and the nsr went nuts and read something like 1750 the other 3 stayed at 0.3.

Gotta be the nsr abs sensor right? I've tried cleaning in with contact cleaner and a tooth brush but no different.

OK so just been for diagnostics again (no charge) and took the car for a spin this time and the readings where in km/h so wheel speed as @bloke suggested and the NSR was reading crazy like 2000 km/h when doing 30, the rest where spot on. So it's defo a duff sensor. Also managed to source the correct ATE part from ECP for £59 so all good. Just need to get the stubborn git out now, think it will have to be knocked out with a socket with the disc off.

Fingers crossed I can start having some trouble free motoring now.

Thanks again to all who helped, this place is a fountain of knowledge.

  dan's cast offs.
before you change the sensor try the plug under the floor on passengers side just behind front subframe.

sorry, pull it open and check connections in it. had one do exactly the same thing, swapped sensor and was fine for two weeks, did it again and then decided to check the wiring itself and plug was full of water/crap.

wouldn't of minded but it was zip tied together so you'd of thought i'd of noticed that first rather than buying new sensor especially after countless times of telling people to check connections first before they replace sensrs:weary:

Haha, I do that myself. Gave it a check yesterday and seemed tight but will open it up and give it a clean with contact cleaner.

Thanks bud.

Mine is exactly the same. Do you have a link to the one you bought please?

Hi mate, the part is not online with EPC you will need to call your local branch for them to order in. Part No 417745750, make sure its an ATE part not Bosch and pull the duff sensor out first and take it with you on collection for reference.

Got my mechanic to order one on last Friday and they said 5 days delivery. Today ecp say they can't get any at all, so I'm having to pay renault for one. And yes, it is a bloody rip off.

Yep, same here. They told me it was even in stock but then said "lost in transit" when i went to collect. I've just ordered a used stub Axel with ABS sensor attached. £35

I tried getting a used one but it didn't happen so I'll just have to swallow it and buy genuine. If the other one goes I'll just seem the car [emoji38]

It's been in my local trusty garage today. All sorted with renault part for £187. Car had 3 errors on, wheel speed, abs and steering angle. They were on and cleared when belts were done last month so hopefully won't come back again. I want to spend some on mods instead of fixes!

Ahh good on you, glad it's sorted bud. I'm gonna have to pay for the Renault part. I'm now doubting its the actual sensor though. Need to get it on CLIP before I spend £120 on something i don't need. Feckin Renault's!!!

Strange yours didn't sort it, your 2nd hand sensor must be broke too. Your wheel speed readings were exactly the same as mine so a working sensor should fix it. I'll let you know tomorrow if the pedal feels better.

they do list it but think it only comes up on their own system though? have had a few off them, normally a stock item, i've had them same day/next day. not sure if same part number would have to check. how much was it coming in at?

Breaks feel so smooth [emoji1]. Sensor was £132 from renault. Mechanic says my car looks to be in great condition, that's good to hear from one I've used quite a bit for the wifes car and who I trust.

Well Mister Auto let me down so had to purchase directly from the stealers for the shocking price of £124. So just fitted it and what do you know it DIDN'T work, car is no different.

So fecking sick of this car now you wouldn't believe. I'll have to take it to Renault now to get on CLIP to see what that says... MORE bloody money, and I'll have to do Aintree on Saturday with 50/50 bias which just won't be fun as I'll have to nanny the brakes so not to lock up the rears.

Most unreliable car I've ever owned is an understatement, I've spend more hours fixing it than actually driving the damn thing, its a shame as i love it when it's working property.
