182, 172 Track Shed
Right I had a leak on the high pressure power steering line on my Ph1 172, not an uncommon fault after searching for a bit
After too many hours to count I managed to get the high pressure line off the car (in 2 parts as it snapped where the leak was as I took it out)
I have a 2nd hand line that ive been trying to fit all day and ive reached the stage now where im ready to torch the car and walk away
It is such a b**ch of a job to do, I have very little mechanical knowledge and only basic tools and am just wondering now what my options are, Im not sure what other parts of the engine I can remove to make access easier without getting myself deeper into sh1te if i cant put them back together afterwards
Was told not to drive the car with no power steering fluid in it in case it killed the pump and took out the aux belt so:
Is this a job a mobile mechanic could do on my drive?
Cheaper to just have car towed to a garage to sort? (Nearest specialist is 40 minutes away)
The part causing me the biggest grief is getting the pipe in between part of the engine painted white and one of the mounts (on the right hand side of the engine bay as you look at it)
Does the pipe have to follow such a stupidly complicated route around the engine bay, can I just buy a high pressure flexible hose and come straight off the pump and take a more direct route to the steering rack?
Help!!
