Thinking of refreshing my 172



Picture for attention: Concern

It seems that I have a bit of oil being burnt during the course of the month. Almost every month a quart of oil has to be topped up.

My mechanic informed me that the compression is 180psi at chamber no.1,2&4 but no. 3 was at 160psi. With that being said I'm thinking I should do a ring job I'm currently doing average 113,000kms

Parts I have in hand(engine and engine bay):
Head rebuild kit and head bolts
Plugs
Valve seals
Engine and gearbox mounts

I'm thinking I should change some other parts as I'm opening up the engine. What parts should I change while I'm down?

Timing belt
Pulleys
Water pump
Oil pump
Etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Is money an issue, can you do the jobs yourself?.

If the answers are no, maybe, will give it a go. Imo just get a good second hand engine that’s had proof of belts etc.
