option 3) keep it all secured and out of eye sight somewhere and in 24 months come back to it with a fresh head, fresh bank account when Naomi has work sorted and fresh ideas. Fresh
BOOM, another great idea bought to you in association with B-Spec Skunkworks

Copy Cat! ;)

Option 4) give it to me, FOC and I'll finish the project.

thanks for complicating the decision more chaps....lol
think i will just give it to you gray

Don't forget the costs involved in selling too.

Say for example you get 10k for the parts, from that you need to minus packaging, then postage, then most importantly, your time. How much is your time worth? It's easy to say 'taht will take 10 mins to wrap and post' reality is far from it. You are looking at weeks, possibly more, worth of your personal time to advertise and sell these items. Depending how valuable your time is that would equate to thousands of pounds.

Having said that the decision to sell starts with what you actually want come the end of it. If your thinking 'I want to finish this, but I'm tight on money, I'll sell up and start over again later' then I would try not to sell it, it will just cost more in the long run. If your thinking 'This isn't what I want any more, I'm tight on money, I'll sell up' then go for it!

I currently have very little time (with my current lifestyle), and with the nature of the value of the parts and the fact i have had so many issues with so many couriers/postal services i would prefer to get things collected or meet people between my 2 current residences.

I would never sell up with the intention to start again at some point, pointless, i suppose that is another reason why i kind of want to finish this, because the spec i have here is kind of a once-in a lifetime collection (i'll never have the money to want/buy it all again),
With regards to what i want, i want a fast road / track car.... always have, something i can have fun in, thats never changed, if i carry on the build i will have one, if i sell up i WILL buy something else fun....

Neil when was the last time you went out in a fast clio on track?

Dont sell anything on the car until after my trackday in Feb. Come out in the car and it may spur you on to finishing your own when the time is right!!

i take it you were bored in the airport when you replied? funny you should make that comment though mate,

I spent all last night at the pub with Beaniemoo (white F4R valver), we had a good long chat about all the options, we pretty much confirmed what yourself and bomber have said, my life is in a very un-certain position currently so best to sort all that, put the car to one side without making any rash decisions and then come back to it once things have worked out a bit.... oh and then chris (beanie) told me i was coming with him to Cadwell in january, should be fun.... but yeah i will hold you to your offer aswell if thats cool, (don't i need to bring an engine mount anyways?)

so i got to visit the clio over the weekend and go over the first few things with the bodyshop (my mate). It dawned on me that it has been at least 2 months since i even saw the car last, let alone worked on it, however a few bits and bobs have been done in the mean time.. not that my friends not busy enough as the clio is currently in the company of a rally mark1 escort for a repaint and a super-rare Jaguar convertible in for a total resto...

anyways back to the clio...
so this is how it currently sits,

a few more bits have been removed now, all locks, mechanisms, bumpers and sideskirts,
on the inside it has also seen some work, remember my problem panel.... well one of the guys got it out.... and turned my clio into a sieve...lol

IMG_1357.jpg

IMG_1358.jpg

not a problem though, will be welded and then have a carbon false floor anyways,
also tidying up the rear has begun...

we also spoke about the rear floorpan and i think we both agreed that an ally floorpan may be best so we are looking into that now... it seems to be gathering steam again...

Can you please tell me the make and model of those wheels ?

Thanks ;)

So now it at it new tempory home are you planning on trying to get some things done on it this summer?

it is intended, initially it will sit for a little bit, i need to get a bit straighter £££ wise, but once that is looking up i will be cracking on, it is in much better company now and the guys who's workshop it is have a lot of drive/good ideas and nice metal so i think there inspiration will help too, another helping hand will always be welcome though mate if you think you may get bored

Still think that breaking this car was one of the worse decisions in the history of cliosport.

part of me agrees with that, the ITB's/airbox needed to come off after the euro road trip as there was an issue, then it just escalated. It will be back even better one day though

anything south of Boro is south to us NE lot lol

anything north of bristol is northern to me.... so out of my depth up here in MK, must be the altitude

its with regret that i am posting this type of post on this thread AGAIN...

my life situation has changed again, and for now it is very much for the better, i am pretty much living in the same place as the clio. However due to other issues over the past couple of months i have not managed to get to work on the car and no progress has been made at all since moving the car, the other issue currently is that i am paying to store it (this is ok) however due to other issues i am very much strapped for ££££ to do anything, let alone progress with the car.

my thoughts have turned to whether i can afford to keep plugging with the car and actually finish it or whether it is again best to cut my losses. I know i would want something else fun if i did sell up but also know there is a lot of ££££ tied up in it currently...

again any opinions are welcome, from people who are selling up/who have sold up or people that are running similar projects

  Whichever has fuel
I am in the same position as you and I'm still hanging in there!!

If I sold/broke the car, I'd regret it forever.

In 20 years time, I want to be that old strange bloke with the really cool 40 year old mk1 Clio.
