Should I Do It?????

  ALBI 197 Sonic MKII
Well, managed to get the insurance down to £940 if I pay upfront, about £1300 otherwise which still ain't too shabby. Dealer was closed, so i'll phone tomorrow morning. If he's happy with the change in deposit i'll take it. No cinema or socialising for me for the next month!

DO. IT.

The first time you floor it up to 7000rpm in second gear will be enough to tell you made the right choice.

£940 is a good quote for a 20yr old fully comp. Get a 0% credit card as suggested above, and pay it off at your own leisure or @ £78.33 p/m.

I wouldn't personally pay over a grand for insurance on a 172/182....it's a good car but not that good.

Up to you though....good luck if you go for it, I'm sure you'll enjoy the car:D

Unfortunately when your young you very often have no choice (if you want the car that is!)

I remember when I was a lad and my R5 Turbo cost me a grand to insure (TPTF!!)

Now that i'm older (and several years no claims as well) a Clio 182 (once I get one, hopefully v soon!) will cost me around £4-£450 Fully Comp:D

When you get your insurance, check to see what difference adding some old experienced safe women driver onto your policy will make. People have said this and I still don't understand how it works but it does. I'm cancelling my insurance as I'm off to Iraq but when I come back and add my mum on, the quote is about £150 cheaper.

Like i said, lowest I could get it was £991. I'm 20, no NCB's and only been driving 2 and a half years. Don't think I can get much better than that, do you?

Well i've put a deposit on the car, so will arrive next week. So damn excited it's unreal! All my mates are gutted!

I can definately recommend it as I recently traded in my 1.2 'T' plate clio for a 172, my advice would be to shop around for a 172 first. i picked up an 02 plate with 37k miles on it, 2yrs warranty for £6,200. Do your research and always see the car before you buy. Try independant dealers too rather than just Renault dealers and don't forget that the dealer is always gonna be more desperate to sell you the car than you will be to buy it so haggle, haggle, haggle.

Basically do your research and you will be able to find the right car at the right price.

definately do it though i have a smile on my face everyday when i drive mine!!!!
