Removing battery, effects on stereo

I will be removing the battery to change my gearbox mount tomorrow, problem is by doing so i presume it will lock my stereo that i dont have a code for. Does anyone know how long after the battery has been disconnected the stereo locks up or is it as soon as you disconnect?

Dont think you've got long. Whip it out and reconnect the terminals an battery with jump leads.
