Now I've recently bought this 172 that idles rough , and occasionally cuts out . The idle is very sporadic and feels like a misfire slightly. However the car pulls very hard through the rev range . The previous owner (friend) had been told the vehicle had uprated cams in and that's why it runs like this, my only worry is that if it has had cams has it been timed correctly . I have no history for the belt change except one about 30k ago . Also no proof of cams fitted . I think that there is potentially another issue with the car . Anyone got any ideas ? No codes in the car either. I have tried cleaning the throttle. But that was spotless , also cleaned the crank sensor and the map sensor. I would appreciate any advice on this, I'm thinking maybe try a coilpack next , but don't want to be throwing bits at it without any knowledge of the common problems first . I have done a search but found so much contradicting arguments so thought if post a thread .
