problems getting through m.o.t

  2002 clio 172
hi guys, got a major problem getting my 172 through the m.o.t.

it failed on outer and inner cv boots on one side, its in an independant garage, and they said need to replace driveshaft.

looking into things on here it had been said its easier to do it that way.

had a ring from the garage to say the driveshaft they got does not fit so they got onto renault and they confirmed the garage had got the wrong
one because my engine is a one off and i need one off driveshafts made!! wtf?

they said they will call me back......

now they are saying they did buy the right driveshaft but on delving deeper into why it did not fit they say someone who owned the car before me
has put a differant gearbox on and its the wrong one for the car? plus its got all the worng bolts holding the gearbox on±!!

are there any other gearboxes that fit?? i think their taking the micky.

i had the car in renault last year and they replaced a driveshaft then because the carrier was damaged i told the garage this as renault did not mention anything..

They're trying to do you RIGHT over.

Just ask for the car back, explain you want nothing more done and take it to somewhere that isn't run by arseholes.

you are being shafted

think you are correct.

just been down there to see what the feck is going on, he now says he is getting cv boot from renault and is going to take my driveshaft apart
and fit it that way!! thats all they had to do in the first place duh.

he also said they had renault techs out who confirmed i have the wrong gearbox and driveshafts :S

Lol.

Make sure you make them understand not to do any work to the car and you won't be paying for any if they do. They sound like the kind of specialton's who would get on with it without your permission anyway.

Let me take a guess, they got the driveshafts from eurocarparts or similar. My dad used to work there and had nothing but trouble with 172/182 driveshafts, none of them fit.
Have they tried fitting a genuine renault shaft at all?

i went down yesteday and the chappy got the shaft out that they got for it, said this is whats sposed to fit my car, said i got a totally differant gearbox to whats sposed to be on car!!

today i got some pics off k-tec website of both new shafts after getting call to say the car was ready and passed mot.

i went down showed pics he said the longest one aint what i got on my car :S. paid for said work i.e all cv boots replaced plus other mot niggles.

got home had look under car and the k-tec pics look same as my driveshafts :boring:

i think they just didnt want to admit that they fucked up.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
with inner and outer boots split you WILL need a new shaft, as the inner one cannot be replaced.(assuming phase 2 172??) Genuine only, reconditioned shaft on exchange basis.

Part is about £145. Gearbox story is bullshit, they've just got no knowledge of the car. Should have used a specialist
