O2 sensor fault

Hi, I have a Clio 182 cup and over the last few months my engine management light has been coming on for a day or so then going off again, so I have had it linked up to a diagnostic machine which is indicating that I have a oxygen sensor fault "Generic Oxygen sensor malfunction (bank 1 sensor 1)" P0130. Does anyone know if this is the sensor closest to the manifold? Also I have a strong smell of unburnt fuel when i start the car and also when the car has warmed up and I'm sat at the lights etc. The smell is strong outside the car :s Could this be related?

Bank 1 sensor 1 is the upstream of cat sensor ie the front one closest to manilfold.
