For that price id be looking at some beyerdynamic DTX 101's (IIRC the 800 will have more bass) (With the mic if you need it) and spending the extra on a portable amp like the Fiio E11, or if I could stretch the Fiio E12.

I love my beats, great sound & great bass. For a set of in ear earphones they are perfect. I'm not a fan of the big DJ type ones that seem to have come back into fashion, even though that's where the quality is it. Looks ridiculous IMO.

Never head of that brand before mate? Would I have to get them from the USA or do they sell them in the UK? Don't think I need an amp, just some good quality headphones for the gym and more really.

I have the Beats solo and I really like them, they sound great. I've never tried any others though so cannot comment on whether they are better than competitors.

Considering you were looking at beats that does not surprise me. :p

Beyerdynamic are great. Ive owned them before but the DTX 80, mate has the 101's and they were decent. Got Westone UM3X RC's now and UM2's. Um2s are s**t. All personal taste though......

Check out head fi forums for some ideas. You'll of heard of sennheiser, they do some OK stuff.

TBH if you listen to what they play on capital FM or dub step then beats will be fine but overpriced. A speaker inside your computer tower could give you decent enough results for that

Oh and be sure to check this out:

I've got some sennheiser CX300 which are ok and some Bose IE2 for running which are bloody brilliant. I would highly recommend spending a bit more for them.

Soundmagic E10s from Richer Sounds for £25 at the minute (if your a richer sounds VIP, which basically means you've subscribed for thier emails lol)

I need a new set (always just used the standard apple supplied ones) and as these are cheap and a few peeps are recomending them I'll get the other half to buy them for me for xmas. nice little stocking filler.

I'm on my third set of SoundMagic E10s.

They're absolutely fantastic value-for-money, however, I've suffered a little with some sound quality niggles but my current set are doing the business.
