My Z3M Coupe

F**K!!!! Absolutely gutted for you!

"Just appeared out of nowhere" What a c**t. Why can't he just admit he's in the wrong and has fucked your nice car up? Infuriating bell end.
Hope it all goes in your favour... and it gets repaired well!

i'd have wanted to beat the s**t out of him, cocky pricks like that need taking for all their worth. hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for all the nice words guys. The blokes insurance are admitting liability which is good, and it looks like im going to deal direct with them to save having to pay my excess. They are going to give me a like for like courtesy car and i can choose where the car goes for repair.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for crash repairers in the west yorkshire region? They want me to take it to somewhere called Andrew Bradbury vehicle bodies, however they have no website and i cant find a single review for them.

wife works for bmw/alphabet they take their cars to global,Tates the old rs centre in hunslet did a good job of my subaru when i got splatted by an uninsured driver, they dont rush though :(

Gutted for you mate. One of my favourite cars on the forum this. Absolutely adore these (but don't have the balls/cash to buy one myself  ).

Glad the c***s insurance decided to see sense and accept responsibility. Like Naith said, a car like that, with the dude refusing to accept responsibility, the adrenalin pumping... there would have been a good chance of me losing it completely and going for him. You did well to keep it together.

Hopefully you'll get a Z4MC to tool about in while yours gets fixed.

I'm an extremely placid guy and i'm built like a pipe cleaner so I never get 'fighty' but I was getting wound up when he started lying through his teeth about looking both ways and the idea of me 'appearing from nowhere'

Anyway, Ive just got give this to smoke around in until mine is sorted.

The Z is getting collected tomorrow and taken to a body shop near me called KAG accident repair. They've been about for many years and came recommended by the insurance company.

Decided against asking for it to be done by BMW as the chance of them writing it off due to their labour rates were just too high.

Such a nice car, that sort of dickery should count as criminal damage. Hope it gets sorted out! Maybe a nice polish/detail too if other insurers paying out?

Red is the one colour you don't want to have painted.

Still, at least it's being sorted. I was guessing they'd write if off.

Ah Tom im gutted for you mate and the bloke sounds like a right tool.
When I had a full side fitted on my alpina b3 I took it to scotthall leeds and the job was faultless so I'd definately recommend them,
they were excellent in every way, I also had the rear floor replaced by them on my last m3 and had no complaints again.
Hope you get it sorted soon mate and if you need any help with anything give me a shout.

Make sure they don't write it off, keep very close track of what's happening.

They wrote my friends one off for a door and a front wing, it only had 31k on it!

Just had word that the M is not being written off.

Apparently the engineer declared it a total loss on Thursday due to the wheels being so expensive to replace outright. Having the originals refurbed instead.

Going to be a long job apparently, meanwhile, i'm absolutely loving the e90 lci 318d courtesy car. Day to day, I wouldn't ever need more from a car, genuinely so impressed with it.

That's really good news. I had to compromise when I got hit in my Frp. They refurbed the 2 damaged wheels insted of replacing them but to be fair they weren't buckled just lightly kerbed so looked brand new once done. And I managed to blag getting all 4 powdercoated antracite. :)

I'm sure I remember one of your B3's being different shades of blue down one side!

Tom. Gutted for you. Hope they do a sterling job.

That was the blue one, it was the purple one which scotthall repaired for me.
Who is repairing your car Tom?

Awful :(

But why were you so determined to have it fixed? You not worried about it not 'feeling' right or even the colour etc?

Would it not have been easier to let them write it off and buy something else/another one?

Its reasonably clear from the speed of the accident that its all just bodywork damage and nothing serious so that doesnt bother me at all.

It took me 4 months to find this car and i personally dont think there is anything else out there for the same money that turns as many heads or feels as special. I couldnt be bothered to wait such a long time again to get another one in the same condition as mine.

Add in the fact that financially I would get bummed with settlement valuations if they wrote it off, and it means i'll be very pleased to get it back. Obviously I wont be accepting the car back unless the repair and paint look right.

Im with Revels tbh. What would they give you if they wrote it off?

My experience with insurance companies and getting work done to a standard which you are happy is a nightmare. Especially if you know the car inside out. My mate had trouble with his golf which he did all the research he could etc. The car went back 3 times and he was still not happy. At that point he was basically told to f**k off.

On a car that age i would say it'll def need a full respray to match. It may look alright for a while but a month or so down the line is when it becomes apparent. Especially under artificial light.

My paintwork is guaranteed for three years, so if I were to become happy with the match it'd go back FOC. I'm sure this will be the same.

FYI, once the car was at the garage, I no longer spoke to the insurance and spoke direct to them.

Even now infact, the car is going in to have the passenger door aligned as it's slightly different to the drivers side (a bit higher), the garage dealt with me direct and were great about it.

Writing a car off is all well and good if it's a common car, but it's a ballache for something like this. Even though z4's are ten a penny, I really loved this one so really wanted to keep it.

You've done well then. My mate had to deal with the garage direct and once the insurance stepped out and he'd been back and few times that's when he was told to f**k off. His word against theirs etc. Just being a fussy customer.

My place specialised in Merc's, BM's and Porsche's, the manager (rather young tattooed bloke which surprised me) gave me his card the day I arrived to pick up the car, he said any issues at all with the car and we'll sort them out.

I drove away from the garage and my passenger window reg died, which they'd put into a new door. He special ordered one from BMW and had it fitted by midday the next day. All without contacting the insurer. Awesome place.

This is the main problem, the Z3M Coupe is a specialist car, that is sometimes quite hard to value, as its very much a car priced with your heart, not heart. Glasses probably says it was worth £6k, whereas in reality, it would quite easily have sold on PH for £12k.

Look at the trouble Luke had with valuing the Trophy recently, & that is nowhere near as rare/special as this.
