My Stealth Black Mk2 1.2 172 Rep

Been on here a while but finally done enough to warrant a progress thread!

It pretty pic heavy, sorry bout that. But who doesnt like pictures right? :)

So basically i turn 17 next month. A few weeks before my 16th birthday, i started to look into clios on ebay, so when my birthday came i was greeted with this!

Completly standard except from those horrific ripspeed alloys, but only set me back £450 with MOT and tax as it needed a few things.

So straight away set about purchasing a few things. New lights, indicators, sub, sport grill

I then started looking around on progress threads on here and decided to make a sport rep. so set about getting all the interior plastics and the lower part of the dash for £12! as mine was cream.

It then stayed like that for a while, as i was on the look out for some seats. So bought a grill

I then lost interest for a few months due to exams and other stuff, so it just sat there. But after exams were all done i got straight back to work. Always liked sunstrips

Thanks for looking and sorry for all the pics

You're not going to get any love for those wheels on here. Get your flame-suit on.

Everything else is looking absolutely fantastic. Love the carbon. Its crying for coilovers but you're on to that. Aaand maybe some new wheels ;)

Have you got a leaky sunroof by any chance? I think I spot the old bin bag mod.

Looks fantastic mate. Great transformation. Being picky, not a fan of the tow strap. But overall top work

Hey buddy remember me? I bought the wheels, rear bumper and the spoiler from the silver 172. Its looking really good since I saw it. Also what did you do with the xenons from the 172?

Looks really smart mate, with turinis and coil overs it'll look great. Maybe get the exhaust flush to the bumper? Good work mate

Oh no mate! Sweet bud! let me know when you get the project thread going, looking forward to seeing pics :)

Looking good!

Lowering, spacing and a nice set of wheels and your laughing :)

I also have a replica, mines a 1.2 though -.-

Edit: yours is a 1.2 also  at me.

Cheers bud! yeah lowering is the next thing, then i think plan to pass and start driving then im thinking spacing and camber, the wheels are actually growing on me quite a lot, i think they look a lot better in person. Yeah mate, i think i subscribed to your thread, car looks great! :)

Can I ask how much it all cost to make it look like a 172

Only just saw this, depends on how far you want to go mate, all my bumpers and sideskirts and wings set me back about £150 but i bought them seperatley. The seats and door cards you could prob pick up for around £100-£150, but then you need wheels, etc. Its never ending aha. hope that helps :)

Looks really Smart mate good job :)

Thanks mate!

A little bit of an update!

A few things have been done since i started my project thread, fixed my leaking sunroof which has held up so far :) dont have any pics though.

Then got round to fitting my new exhaust mount (only took 4 months haha) so the exhaust if no recessed in the bumper, got my eye out of a surround aswell :)

Now the better bits, It was my birthday on wednesday (9th) so im finally 17!!!!!!! Got a few bits for my car aswell as quite a lot of detailing bits, so will get cracking with that when i find a nice day, took my theory yesterday so thats all out the way and done, and got my first lesson today :D

First up is skoda splitter

13775328753_4d36b7c673.jpg

Dont really have any more plans at the moment, just to get on the road really, next up is MOT, but first need discs and pads. Then after im driving i plan on coilovers, spacers and a bit of camber, then maybe a cup spoiler :)

Well we're both off college so that should work fine! Just one thing to bear in mind, I bought a very cheap set of discs and pads on eBay for something like £25 delivered (2 x discs 4 x pads). And they seemed absolutely fine to me, my only gripe is it's now been about 3 months and they still squeak even under light braking. I assume that's cause they're cheap but something to think about buddy

Was it hard to fit the splitter?

...I actually really like this car. when i read "first car" and "16 years old" in the first post i was ready for a halfords fail special! But it looks nice. I even like the wheels! You have done a bang tidy job of keeping with a good theme. Just don't go ott with the stickers! ;)

and to save you waiting on an answer. Splitter fitting is easy. The skoda splitter is more of a rubber and the bumper plastic is soft enough to stick some self taping screws though it with little to no effort. Just be sure to measure up a center line in the front bumper and the splitter so that when you stick the first screw in, its central and the rest will follow round. I drilled some small pilot holes in the splitter to put the screws in first as well, that why you aren't fannying around trying to screw them through that and the bumper, you can just line it up, hold it and start screwing. Once its on, just trim the ends off and its done. Should take around half an hour if you take your time to light it all up.

Update!

Not much of an update really, mainly spent the last few months driving and spending money of petrol. Finally got a set of spacers, they arrived today so fitted them. Didnt get any befores as got excited about fitting them

Got a couple of mechanical jobs need doing:

Rear wheel bearing
rattling cat
cracked abs ring
brake refresh

Then the last few mods before i feel im happy with it:

lowering
new wheels (biggest on the list as i hate mine)
small amount of camber
front bumper - mine has had a poor respray
side skirts - also has a bad respray
side strips - again bad respray
rear bumper - exhaust cut out is massive and has nasty scratches and cracks from previous owner storing it.
cup spoiler
xenons

should have another update soon

cheers

Update!

Probably the best thing i have done to my car so far, Coilovers!!!

Managed to pick up a set of FK's off the bay at an outstanding price due to the them finishing at a odd time.

So they are all fitted now and the car has been absolutley transormed, handles so much better.

Had a lot of issues of rubbing with it being too low, but it now stands at a good height with no rubbing.

Also fitted some camber bolts but took them off again as one side had more camber than the other for some odd reason and the wheels looked broken, plus the car handled like sh*t.

Next is new wheels (and then tracking) :) woo, as my tyres are almost gone and driving a lowered car with no tread and on 17's is unbelievably terrible. So as per my wanted thread, if anyone has a set of 182 alloys with tyres for around £200 please let me know.

Update!

So been wanting new wheels for ages as 17's are terrible. It got to the point that i needed a least 3 new tyres so that was the perfect excuse for some new wheels. When on the look out and found a set of 182 alloys in need of a refurb but have some good tyres on them. So a deal was done. They were originally going to be redone in anthrasite but im still liking the black on black so decided to go for that. Maybe one day i was change colour tho. The refurb cost me nothing to do and although not the professional, a hell of a lot better.

I'm planning to do the same with my 1.4 but then a 172 Ph1 rep. Couldn't find the right rearbumper without the exhaust holes, jet , still in the search for them.... And for the money haha! :rasp:
