My Clio Turbo Project

  Clio GT Turbo
Right I haven't been on here for a very long time, just thought I would post up what I'm up to!

I used to have a Renault Clio with a R5GTT engine in it untill that went pop.

Now I've decided to do it all over again with a new shell.

Bought the engine of eBay for £300 which included a rebuilt bottom end, reconditioned gear box, full exhaust system for a clio R5, polished boost pipes, driveshafts for a clio and some 2.0 Williams discs and calipers.

I've started to strip it all down just to see how it's fairing in its old age and it needs new pipework all over as a lot of them are split.

A few weeks ago I saw a neglected Valver on eBay and decided to buy it. It's a 1993 1.8 16v which has seen better days.

Here are some pictures of it:

It needs a new passenger side front wing, new windscreen, new front foglights, new drivers door, replace interior with 16v spec and sort the rust round the rear arches. The gearbox also needs a rebuild but I won't be using that anyway. The car itself has done 141,000 miles which you can really tell.

All that will get sorted as the project goes on, but I only paid £195 for the car.

Spec the car will be:

T25 Turbo
8mm HT Leads
Copper Core Radiator
Front Mount Intercooler
Group A Carb
2.5" Turbo Elbow
2.5" Turbo Downpipe
2.5" side exit exhaust
Lightend & Balanced flywheel
Volvo 480 Turbo Clutch
Uprated Brakes all round
Lowering all round (Not sure how much yet)
Piper 285 cam

I have already got some of the bits, just waiting to get some more money to buy the rest.

I'll keep you updated.

Comments and suggestions welcome!!

My mate also told me to ditch the group A carb, but I can't send it back now so I've been told to just put a smaller jet in it.

What performance parts you got that I could use?

Sorry theres been no update for a while, just been waiting to get some more parts. I managed to source a wing in blue for a good price as well as purchasing some angel eyes. I'm not usually a fan of angel eyes but I indend to use HIDs and this is the only legal way to use them.

Heres what else I recieved recently:

I also bought this, a blue carpet from a williams. Obviously some sort of custom job, but I think it will look good. Only got this useless eBay picture at the minute.

t25 off a rover, that built in dump valve will want blanking off as the leak at about 12psi, forge motorsport do a blanking plate that will sort that out for you

To get the tomcat to fit the GTT lump you will need to rotate the core so the oil feed in is at the top you will need to rotate the compressor housing you will need to drill and tap the rear of the compressor housing as the actuator will need to be moved, Drill the 2 x bottom holes out on the ex side of the manifold (slightly bigger to mate with the GTT manifold) you will also need to use the water banjo and bolts of a standard renault T2 turbo, oil drain will need modifying and you will need to probably get an oil feed adaptor (pirtex), Oh and before i forget removed the built on d/V and put a blanking plate over it don't forget to use the d/v gasket with some sealant.
