my 172 cup not as fast as it use to be?

tbh I was offered this car having just checked my pm's, I'm glad I didn't take you up on the offer to be fair.

I can't say much though as I let my 172 run out of oil, I paid the price as well - £2,560 altogether. I replaced pretty much everything but the gearbox. Total Control Racing (clio cup) carried out the work and to be fair they did a very good job. Ever since then I've made sure I get everything sorted as and when it happens.

Like other people have said, you should really get it to a renault specialist, not just a company who specialise in rebuilding engines for all makes and models.

If i were you i'd get it to JMS, Rentech or Mark Fish and let them diagnose what the actual problem is instead of trying to guess the problem, or trying to fob the car off to someone else.

You blatantly don't have a clue what the car is doing, or what you are doing to it.
Its basic common sense. If its ill, don't drive it like a fucktard.

Well I learnt my lesson the hard way..

If i dont sort this out Il just px it at a garage, if so feel free if anyone wants to swap seats as i dont think they wud value the car more with trophy seats and coilovers.

but wud love to sort this prblem out as i love this car more than the vx220 turbo ps it can take more abuse lol


who is the best person to see JMS, Rentech or Mark Fish.
I like Rentech but slightly far out.
MarkFish is good, also anyone have the number for JMS

JMS are good, I've heard nothing but good things and having met them they're nice guys too. If you want rid of the recaro's give me a shout. I'm local.

Where abouts in london are you from anyways? I saw a cup today in blackfen, guy outside fettling with it, thought it could have been you. lol

I'd be going to Mark Fish if I was by him. Proven experience in road cars and racing.

I'm not sure why you're hammering a car that's just been rebuilt. Did they not advise you to take it easy during the running in phase, like the first couple of k.

How do you know it feels alot slower then? When new cars are built and bought they're always slower than what they are with 5k on the clock.

It's a difficult one but if you're certain they're is something wrong I'd take it to Mark Fish and swallow the cost and get them to assess it. If it's fucked I'd start again with a second hand engine. If it's ok just go easy on it for a couple of k.

You don't even know if the engine is working and you want to bolt a supercharger to it???

Before you do anything, you need to get the car completely checked over from top to bottom. By somebody who knows Clio's inside out. Its a completely pointless exercise spending money on a duff engine.

Well for me, if someone had rebuilt my engine and it was running poorly and I took it back afterwhich they said it was ok I'd be thinking they are fobbing me off or it's actually ok and I'm just being funny and getting it wrong.

I'd get a second opinion off a reputable and trustable source.

Have one of the guys you're mentioning drive it and they'll tell you if it's fooked or just not yet "loosened up"...

Iv got a good feeling its the pully letting it down, although they changed all the belts they said the pully was not part of the rebuild, but they said bring the car and the will do it. But at this point i just is f**k the warranty and just get it to Markfish.

Now that there is abit of dry road, iv noticed my 172 cup is not as fast as it use to be before the rebuilt. And its not because im driving the VXT as a 2nd car, i pretty sure of it, even the GF noticed she dont get pull back to the back like before,
The pervoius own said it was superchipd and iv got an invoice for it. And one know how i can get the power back. Id be happy to meet sum1 with a clio RS to test and confirm it, or compare it to another clio rs

sounds like my ph1 1.2 it had a rebuild at 72k and i got it at 99k but it was sooo slow and wouldn't really go past 4/5k revs.

much slower than everyone elses 1.2

Are you for real? Your driving a car that you think is buggered and you want to supercharge it?!

I've had an idea.....You could get the car repaired/inspected for these so called problems and then drive it to RS Tuning.

BTW Does it start ok? I've heard there's more snow on the way so look forward to a video.

maby.. he is gonna get the engine sorted out and the the sc conversion fitted . use some common sense

From reading this thread it sounds to me that the owner is willing to throw 4k at the car to get it supercharged but seems very reluctant despite what everyone is saying to take it to a specialist that can fix the problem.

That imo is complete retardedness.

Repairs > mods
