Miko Hirvonen Crash (picture)

BTCC drivers are the same ;) Mind you, those who have experienced the Miko Hirvonen Death Stare don't agree though.

I'd hardly call Plato and Neal average everyday people. If Plato's ego gets any bigger he's going to need a van next year to fit his head in. Same goes for the likes of Cleland and Soper from the old days.

I went to chirk castle today, what a piss poor excuse for an event! way over priced and organization didn't even come into it

Did you just compare rallying to gymkhana? Because that would be seriously daft.

I think the problem with loeb in F1 is the fact he wouldn't be used to sharing a track with other cars. I know Valentino Rossi did quite well when he came over as a privateer, and Kubica wasn't too bad until his accident. So it is possible to make the transfer.

Sorry. Just thought it was a 4WD that did a few drifts every now and then....

Anyone watch ITV coverge today, it was so boring i switched it off, showed about 20 seconds of the car on the stage then just lots of interviews and jibber jabber, gone have the good old days of rallying.

yep been piss poor like that for a while now

I Was thinking of going great orme tommorrow but based on today's coverage I can't be bothered. Looks to be zero atmosphere.

Much rather watch the amateur north west stages least we can see some mk2 escorts and the like.

You would rather watch mk2 escorts than the WRC cars?? Should be a great atmosphere at the orme tomorrow.

Way over priced, much action?

Seriously so mate - £25 each to get in (there were three of us) the stage opened at quarter past 11 and we aimed to get there for about half 11 quarter to 12 (stage didn't start until 20 past 2). we got within 5 miles and stopped dead... we didn't reach the car park until 2 o'clock and then only just got to the viewing area in the middle just as the course car was coming through (didn't have time for food or the rally fest ) saw 9 cars come through, the commentators didn't know which cars were which and then the stage was halted! so we decided to leave. But it didn't stop there! to get out of the viewing area we had to bloody well jump through a ditch!

The whole thing was a joke - they just weren't prepared or the amount of people wanting to see the rally (by the time we left there were cars abandoned on the sides of the road making getting out a nightmare), and to charge £25 per person for the privilege was disgusting IMO.

I wouldn't say WRC drivers are more talented than F1 drivers, especially the tame machines they are driving these days.
The Group B monsters back in the 80's however..

Heard it before about these cars being "tame".

300bhp/600nm torque and 0-60 in 3 seconds on gravel - still pretty rapid.

Gutted I couldn't make it this year - usually go every year. Need to bring it back to brechfa next year. About a mile from my house ;)

Chirk Castle stage had the organisation of nothing i've seen before, SO SO SOOOO bad.

I'm just thankful I went in a Modded R35 and got a ride home in a F10 M5 to save the day!

Yup, take the Ford RS 200. Yeah, it made 440bhp, but it only made 489nm of torque (not that that's particularly small!), and the modern cars are better handling too - definitely not tame!

Only 489nm lol so still more than the current wrc cars. But yes like you say the suspension and tyres are so good and advanced they can certainly take a corner at ridiculously fast speeds.
