Merge Partitions?

Hi all,

I'm using Vista Home and have two partitions C:\ Which is the main one but Iolso have a D:\ which has just 8gb but doesn't get used. It was there when I got the laptop but I would like to merge them both.

Can i do this without causing disruption to the files on my C Drive?
What program can i use thats free and easy?

Cheers, Sy

partition magic is not free but it is easy.

Personally I think you'd be better off resizing D: and using it for documents/pics etc, and then use C: for OS and all programs. Then if you need to rebuild you don't have to move and files about or backup

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management > Highlight the partition that's not required any more > "Delete volume" > Highlight partition that's still used > "Extend volume"
