I had to go to renault to order the fob as they are car specifc I believe, it included the immobiliser chip as well - 2 week wait tho. Got my blade cut from the original and put the two together. THEN had to get renault to program the key for the car. Think fob was around £60/70 then £30 for programming.

Ring around different dealers as I get around £50-100 price difference from my local ones.

Don't know if you can.......someone confirm.....can you not buy a clio key fob off ebay and then get renault to just program it to your car? That then means you pay a silly low price for a key fob and then just pay for the programming

Yeah I had the blade cut for free from someone I know. I found it really difficult to get the blade out so be prepared for a bit of effort required. You can order the blade from Renault but if the locks have been changed at anypoint the blade wont be correct obviously.

To Terry's post, I was told that the immobiliser or the blip are specific for the car, cant remember which bit but was a thread on here the other day about someone buying a blip and receiver and fitting it into their car so maybe its the immobiliser that's car specific. Also apparently only renault (and poss a few specialists) can programme the key to the car, what they programme specifically I don't know but 1/2hrs labour seems excessive to me!

No, keys are programmed once and then 'locked'.
Only option is a new un-programmed key from Renault really. Cost me around £100 a couple of years back.

I was in same boat as you mate, lost my spare before xmas. :(

Eventually got round to doing something about it and called Renault last week to order a replacement :)

The dealer in Aberdeen (Evans Halshaw) wanted to charge me £170/£180 (They couldn't agree a set price with me):(

So i called around and tried a Renault dealer about 30 odd miles away from me(Mackie Motors) and got it done all in for less than £140 :)

So i went in today to collect my new key and get it programmed.

God knows why Evans Halshaw were so expensive :S

Needless to say in future if i need anything from Renault i'l be calling on Mackie Motors :)
