interior plastic damage. recolour?

  Golf GTI
Hi all

Looking for suggestions on how to fix this:

Previously that plastic part was scuffed and faded, I had it 'touched up' by this specialist plastic repair place, but I reckon it looks awful. I'm not sure if there's much I can do though - Ideally I'd just replace that part but I don't think it's easily done.

I damaged that exact same panel.

Grab that panel at the bottom and pull hard, the panel will snap off from the main dashboard 'carcus' (with relative ease) , it will break clean at the plastic weld points. Do the same on a donor car, apply some strong adhesive to the contact points and put new one on, i have just done this :)

See the photo you can see the three points at which it attaches. Apply glue and new piece of trim

Laine, thanks so much for that info and posting the pic! Did you have any trouble getting it to sit properly with the snapped plastic contact points? Did they both snap off clean?

The biggest challenge is going to be finding a donor Clio down here in Melbourne! When I do find one though it'll be a much better option than trying to match the colour again - cos it'd never look perfect.

The bottom point may snap and stay attached to the dash car us you the. Have to a snap it off glue it to the piece of trim and then glue the Trianon. It's sounds more complicated than it is but when you do it you will see what I mean
