***How much is it worth?***

  2002 Clio 172
I have a 52 plate 172 I may have to sell due to marriage split and needing something big enough for 2 kids , buggy etc. Its a 2 owner black 172. Engine wise its standard. Full history (independent garage from 70k but stamped book) 112k now. Had cambelt and dephaser and oil change at Diamond Motors 2k ago. Had a clutch last month. Tax until May, will have full Mot. Had new discs and pads all round. Has set of 15s for track and std wheels. Recent backbox and new exhaust gaskets. It's got a couple of minor scuffs but nothing bad at all - comes up real clean.

I paid £1700 for it, and have spent £560 on cambelt + dephaser, £410 on clutch, £250 on brakes / exhaust, £250 on tax and few odds n sods etc.

I know i'm not likely to make back what I have spent, but I have no idea where to price it. I have receipts for everything spent, and have warranty for the clutch (only done 500 miles on it). What's it worth please???

maybe 2K if your lucky. its a 172 with high miles, regardless of the other stuff, you would need to find someone who really wanted a 172 to buy it for more imo.

52 plate 172 in black, 112k, its £1995 if the bodywork is mint.

If not, its probably realistically £1795.

The miles kill it unfortunately.

Re: Is my car priced right?

Thinking i might sell the Trophy this year and get a 197/200 not made up my mind yet.
83k with full history
cambelt and aux belt. 2 months ago by red
Gt cams (Fred) and remapped at RS tuning 185bhp and runs great. 2 months ago
Brand new Sach dampers,Mark Fish springs and also fitted new rear dampers. Around March these got fitted and done about 1k miles. Fitted at Birchdown.
Uprated engine and gearbox mounts (K-Tec)
Hc Brembos and Ds 2500 and braided lines
ITG Maxgon

Not really made my mind up yet to sell but really fancy a R27 and just seeing how much cash i would need to put towards one.

Your Dad owns a Renault dealership.

Surely you'd be better off asking him for advice?!

He doesn't. Haha.

We sell all sorts, but not renaults, peugeots, fords etc. more the upper end if the market.

I think it's about right anyway. £11,400 should sell it quickly.

So what's it worth?
I've probably missed a few bits off the spec but basically it's everything you'd need to go racing or a hell of a fun weekend toy
It's been built almost entirely by myself over last 2 years with no money spared anywhere
ONLY issue with it at the moment is the front Bilsteins are knocking - need to go off to Bilstein for the seals replacing but it's not a difficult or expensive job

I know how much it's worth in parts - but it's such a good car I don't want to have to break it...

I'd put that up for £5999 and be happy with anything over £5k.

Agree though, it would be gutting to break that. :(

Yeah it cost me about £10k to build - parts all sold 2nd hand if I stripped it for parts are about £6-7k, but I thought i'd be struggling to get £6k for it as a whole

I dunno lads - I love it to bits, properly poured my heart into it but I'm getting really torn by Evo 6's and R33 Skylines - kinda feel like I need boost in my life. Other option is sell all the ITB bits and see if I can turbo/charge it

Spent over £1500 in the last few months on it, no receipts, so i dont expect people to take my word for it, although an inspection would show the new parts.

Reckon I would get much interest sticking it up for £1750?

  Ph2 172
Right, I'm getting to a stage where I need to spend a bit on the Clio, but I am also tempted to get rid and buy a RB or BG 182.

My clio is a ph2 172 in Iceburg Silver, it's done 65k and is in above average condition.

The aux belt was changed at BTM in Dec 2010, the cambelt was done by the previous owner in 2008 so is due early part of next year.

I had the clutch changed at TCR in June due to a noisey thrust bearing.

The car has a custom st/st cat-back (hidden) and is lowered on Apex springs.

I have seen a FF RB 182 for £2999 locally, belts done, 04 plate, 67k.

So I am just weighing up my options.

What should I be looking at value wise for my 172?

Mum wants to sell her 197.

It's a 56 plate Albi Blue.

Covered 19k miles, however due to a faulty instrument cluster Renault replaced this @ 10k so the odometer reads 9k miles.

Full SH, Cambelt changed last year at Birchdown.

Has climate control, keyless go, 6 cd changer in the boot and factory tinted rear windows. (No recaro's or projector headlights)

Completely standard.

There are a few stone chips and mild kerbing to a couple of the wheels.

She was offered £4k trade in so wants an idea of how much to sell it private as that seems too low.

How much peeps? Thanks.

Re: ***How much is my car worth?***

Looking to part with my little baby as she is coming up to the end of her 3year finance plan (feb) and have the option to keep it with a final payment of £3000.

How much will it be worth? will i get my 3grand back and more?

its a 55plate, done at current 34000miles will be mot'd in dec. 1.2 16v campus sport.

182 look cat back exhaust, 182 anthacite wheels, and lowered on eibach pros.

im guessing if i can target the young 'first car' crowd who want a car that looks faster than it is.... i will be a winner???

any comments welcome...even slating ones, will just ignore em! had them all before! ;)

cheers, Normy

Bear in mind, if you hand that back to the finance company, they'll fcuk you if you've modded it.

  Monaco 172
ok need your help here please guys.
I go to Afghanistan again towards the end of December and dont want my 172 sat around for four months so I need to shift it.

The thing is, I have a rough idea what its worth and i'm willing to take a bit of a hit on this to get it shifted but wanna know the best way to do it.

she's a 2003 (53) 172 Monaco Blue
104,000 miles
some history
Tax + Mot March 13
Eibach Sportlines fitted
belts done but IMO she needs dephaser doing
interior is good
all wheels are kirbed on the rim
4 x recent toyo proxes (done 1000k) good spare tyre
Steering wheel retrimmed Very good match and looks very smart IMO
Carbon Bullets / Bumper trim / Fog surrounds
K - Tech Stealth supersport (single silencer type) very good condition

So my question is, Id lke around the £1600 mark but do I risk holding out for a cash buyer or do I break it for parts?

I mean I could maybe get £400 for the aftermarket parts but then im stuck with a stock monaco thats not complete and I need it gone sharpish.

so please let me know what you think, am I way off on the price?

As nice as it is, if it needs a dephaser doing, you'll be lucky to get £1000 for it.

63k
11 months MOT
6 months tax
Part service history with belts just done
Bodywork in good condition

What could i get ?

  Mk1 Focus RS
After xmas I’m looking to sell my clio as I will be taking ownership of my dad’s mk1 Focus RS so I’m just trying to get a ball park figure of how much my car is worth:

Details.

  • 2004 Clio 182, I’m the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] owner
  • Will be on roughly 46k when it comes to selling it.
  • Full Service History
  • Both Cup Packs
  • Will have MOT till end of August 2013 and 6 months Tax
  • Cambelt and Aux belt swapped in 2009 at 25k

The car was purchased last January by myself and in April I took it to Diamond Motors (Renault specialist) to have a service and upon close inspection it was discovered the cam cover had a minor oil leak so I had this fixed and all the belts including the dephasor replaced at a cost of £600.

Modifications

  • Recaro Trendlines (in pristine condition - no wear whatsoever)
  • Scorpion RS192 Cat Back Stainless Exhaust System
  • Eibach Proline Springs
  • ITG Panel Filter
  • Brembo High Carbon Discs
  • Ferrodo DS2500 Pads on Front
  • Braided Brake Lines all round
  • Arctic Blue Painted Engine Cover
  • Small cosmetic mods – Silvervisions, Alloy foot rest and smaller aerial

The Previous owner always had it serviced by Birchdown
Service History (previous owner)

  • 10/11/2008 (22087 miles) – Service. Replacement Front Discs (Brembo HC) & Pads
  • 25/08/2009 (25740 miles) – Cambelt Service & MOT. Scorpion Exhaust Fitted
  • 16/09/2009 (26255 miles) – New Post-Cat Lambda Sensor
  • 06/07/2010 (29820 miles) – Eibach Proline Springs Fitted
  • 17/08/2010 (30542 miles) – Service & MOT. DS2500 Pads fitted, New Rear Shocks
  • 25/01/2011 (32800 miles) – Recaro’s Fitted and 4 new tyres fitted (Michelin PE2’s)
  • 28/07/2011 (35100 miles) - Service & MOT
  • 15/08/2011 (36524 miles) – PAS Pump & Aux Belt Replaced, Scorpion centre section fitted (Scorpion supplied the part under lifetime warranty)
In my ownership:

  • 10/04/2012 (40,000 Miles) Service at Diamond Motors.
  • 22/04/2012 (40,500 Miles) All belts including dephasor replaced at Diamond Motors.

I have all the service history from previous owners too. As you can see the car has wanted for nothing whilst in my and the previous owners ownership, Obviously as the car is now approaching 7 years old, it does have a few stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper. The steering wheel is in very good condition and has not suffered from melting.

The N/S/F alloy has a bit of kerbing and a 2 inch scuff on one of the spokes (I’m normally so careful parking the car next to kerbs!), the other alloys are in very good condition.

  Clio 172
2000 X reg Ph1 172 in silver.
1 owner from new (me:D)
51000 miles
Part service history
2 months tax
Excellent condition ( never had an accident, hardly a scratch.)
I think i've got all the old tax discs and mot's
Driven until yesterday when my insurance ran out.

Bad points: Speedo is intermittent, power steering pump needs changing (I think), mot ran out a last month but should pass when the power steering and speedo have been fixed (it hasn't failed one yet), steering wheel is worn as usual, bit of an oil leak.

Need to sell as my wife is getting a family car and i'm having her Honda :S
Need a price that will shift it quick or i'll px it.
Thanks in advance Mick.

Had very little interest in my car and was just wondering if the price is too high or if my ad is off putting?

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/...ault/clio/2004-clio-1-6-with-cool-pack/710061

Your advert text is brilliant, I wish more people wrote ads like that! But the pictures are poor. You need to dress te exterior plastics and take some nice shots with a decent background.

Sadly, the 1.6 is a hard car to sell. Young drivers cannot afford to insure it and tose that can afford to insure it can buy a 182/182 instead.

Cheers Daniel, better pictures and a decent background are something I can work on.

I think I'll stick it out a bit longer on PH then try AT, seems to appeal to a larger audience.

  FiestaST(ex 172 Cup)
