Headlight Problems??

Hiya guys,
Basically was just wondering if the bulb holder on the 172 cup actually screws into the headlight unit. Or does it just sit there? Car has just failed mot and one of the points was headlight alignment. I have looked today and it doesnt look as though the bulbs are actually held in place? maybe broken.

any help is good.

the black circle which holds to bulb in place screws out, then the bulb pulls out, its a bit fiddly but u should be able to manage, if you cant get your hand in take off the top bolt holding the head light in place, it will pull towards you about an inch or so, helps with space. Also dont touch the light bulb itself. dont no why but ppl always say dont touch them...

the bulbs are held in place by the leveller aren't they? if thats unplugged itself it will mean they will be free to move & won't be aligned properly. Its the little white box on the back which if you twist should unclip - if its not attached you should be able to pull it straight out (theres a black arm with a ball on the end which clips in to the bulb housing)
