disconnecting battery for removing dashboard?

removing dashboard to get the changer lead out, is this recommended?

and is it generally easy to do? ive seen a guide but it was for a mk2 ph1

People usually recomend to disconnect it incase the airbag goes off. Quite easy to remove apparently, do a search theres a few instructions on it been posted before.

I didn't bother to disconnect it. It's really easy to do also following that guide, the only difference for ph2 is there are another few screws behind the 2 airbag strips which unclip.

I would take it off, takes two seconds, negative off first, negative on last

Damn right i'd be taking it off, it only takes two second to take the negative lead off and its all dead.
