Damaged manifold

  Clio 182
On the way to work this morning my car decided to decat itself, the exhaust has been a bit dodgy recently but didnt realise that it was this bad. There is some rust around the cat and manifold so this is an issue. After a closer inspection it seems there is some potentially expensive damage. The flange (I think its called) on the end of the manifold has been damaged, it was quite rusty but I thought it was just superficial.

Where the manifold bolts to the cat has rusted and worn through. Now hopefully this can be fixed with some clamps as I do not want to have to fork out too much money. Was thinking of something that would go around the flange (that word again) on the cat and manifold that would clamp them together. All advice much appreciated.

All you need a new GENUINE fitting kit.

The cups that sit inside the manifold bolt holes has rusted and broken off, easy fix :)

Thanks for that Gray, are these specialist to the 182? Do you think a Renault dealer would carry them normaly.

Most motor factors will carry them. Its a silver collar/insert thats rusted off. Its not model specific either.

incorrect and bad advice. motor factor gaskets are shite beyond shite

We have these on the shelf at all times

Genuine renault kit about £27+VAT I believe, worth paying the slight more over a non-genuine kit

The motor factor's don't list a fitting kit for the cat/manifold join on 1*2, it's genuine part only

Most places will will sell you a peugeout 406 kit (NWP did to me) and it doesn't fit properly - the bolts aren't long enough! So yeh - as has been said - get one from renault

wrong bolts, wrong springs, and if it's a bosal part it'll wear out FAST

I just welded washers on mine. Did the trick.

not a great idea. Restricts the bolts ability to move, which they need to do as they're part of a flexible joint. Remove the flex and you shift the stress elsewhere and encourage cracks

Agreed its not ideal. But I cut my cat and shifted it back as the manifold connection is super weak that and the washers lasted 70,000 miles until I decatted it.

The entire setup is a bit s**t. Before I tweaked it it snapped all the time.

No idea. Wasn't the mounts as they were replaced. Before it happened.
