Constant alarm going off!!

Its been happening over the last couple of days and its really annoying, not only for me but for the neighbors too!

Ive read numerous threads but with no definitive answer to the cause or solution.

So my car alarm keeps going off. If i lock it it beeps 4 times then locks (2 hazard flashes). It will stay locked and then it will go off again. It keeps repeating this process. Even if i open the door and close it and leave it unlocked it will automatically lock itself then the alarm will go off!

Ive done the 2x twist of the ignition and locking it but it still goes off.

Yesterday i disconnected the boot plug that people suggest on here with no joy. I disconnected my battery last night overnight and reconnected it around noon today. Still no joy. So ive just gone out and disconnected the bonnet alarm sensor. Still no joy!

Ive just opened my boot and it automatically locked itself while the boot was open.

Ive got 3 flashes on the alarm light and when i press the fob i get 4 beeps!

Does anybody have any other suggestions and its driving me crazy!

Thanks, Mark.

Where is the alarm system? I have got my inner arches of at the mo so could be, however they have been off for a whiole now and its never happened. This has only started since friday morning but its probably gone of 30+ times this weekend! If so how would it be fixed?

  A special one.
On the ph1 the alarm box is behind the plastic trim around the wipers/washer bottle.
I dont know if this is the case with the ph2.

Hm.... Interior sensors can be disabled? Tried that?

Not sure if this is a myth but have a search mark, pretty sure the number of times that the red immobiliser led flashes (by the gearstick) tells you what sensor has triggered it.

Alternative temp solution is to lock it without the alarm - get out the car, leave the pass door open, press the interior lock button which will lock the driver door and boot, close the passenger door, then lock with the key.

Thanks for the info guys. I never came around that link so I'll have another go. It's currently unlocked atm due to not wanting to p!ss off the neighbours, but luckily its quiet round my way so "should" have no probs!

Until you post it on a internet forum ;)

Keep us updated once you've had time to investigate properly!

Edit: I found the link through Google instead of the forum. I can't stand the search function on the forum.

No I open the door and press the lock button on the hazard panel then lock the passenger door with the key. Pain in the bum but untill I sort it out or get a garage to fix it, it te way its got to be atm. I can't have the alarm going off every 10minutes!

I read on here that it could be a bonnet alarm sensor. I ordered a new one from renault Wolverhampton and disconnected my old one and locked they I have been like my post above. Hadn't gone off for a few days and when the new sensor came I went and removed the old one and fitted the new one. Been fine ever since and back to normal.

The amount of threads I've found that were left without a final outcome bugged me when I was looking, hence me starting this one.

Yeah bugs me as well! I put a thread in the questions and feedback section asking if members can have the ability to mark threads as solved to save wasting time looking in unanswered threads but it's not happened :(

I think this thread may solve my alarm issue. I bought my 172 cup knowing that it had a very slight front end knock. I have the very same issue with my alarm and couldn't find the bonnet sensor. Obviously without one of these the alarm will keep going off. Can I just get a new bonnet sensor and plug it in? The wiring is still there - just no sensor connected to it.
Any advice is really appreciated, cheers.

My alarm kept going off a few months ago, started with the alarm just going off for no reason. That lasted about 3 or 4 days then all the electrics died. Checked the battery and it was dead, changed it and haven't had a problem since. The battery was only about 6 months old as well.
