I've been thinking about putting a PD engine into a Clio, as they come up fairly cheap and are great Diesel engines IMO

Im that sad Iv looked into this conversion time and time again. Only 3 things bother me,
250bhp pd engine ( modified obv ) would just spin the wheels up being silly torque power on FWd, so 4motion is a possibility?

Turbo would cause the engine to sit in the radiator so the turbo + exhaust mani wwould have to be redesigned to Suit the application

And ecu.... Looks like mostly all of the golf car loom would have to be fitted into a Clio to make it work. All because of no aftermarket diesel ecus and the darn UCH would create so much s**t I wwould presume

The turbo etc is all at the back?? I seem to recall chip saying you could run a PD/CD engine on standalone as essentially the operate fairly similarly to a petrol engine.

Yeah the management side of things is a lot more selfcontained on the older engines making them easier to retrofit, although I meant on the standard management not on stand alone, but its still no 5 minute job by any means, although actually there are also management systems now designed to run commonrail on aftermarket management like this one:

Personally though I still wouldnt bother, its one thing spending time and money to make a trackday car, but I cant see the point in spending over the odds to make an economical daily when you can just buy one instead, thats the reason I doubt anyone is going to bother making a clio diesel with a transplanted engine, or if they do, they will certainly be in the minority, lol
