Clio 200 Silverstone exhaust help please!

  Clio 200 Silverstone
Hi, new to the site, just bought a Clio 200 Silverstone.

The garage I bought the car from replaced the rear diffuser as it was cracked. They sent the old one back, along with the exhaust tips that fit into the diffuser. So as a quick fix until Renault sends the new tips they spot welded some chrome ends on! However, one fell off last night and I think it took a section of the original pipe with it.

The drivers side pipe now ends quite far back within the diffuser, passenger side has a pipe welded on that sits almost flush with the exit in the diffuser, is this correct?

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers .....

Simon.

Poor poor car.. When did you buy this exactly as for the exhaust it looks misaligned. But as well as missing the chrome rings your missing the deflector tunnels too.

I'm sure I seen chrome rings on eBay or just buy carbon ones of Fernandez on 197.net.

Had the car a week. What are deflector tunnels, what do they do?

Cheers .....

:/ I would of told them to fix it before payment.. And is the diffuser painted or not it should be gloss black.

As for the deflector tunnels they are a metal shield that collects the hot gasses from the exhaust and directs them out the hole.. Saves melting your diffuser/rings

The diffuser was painted gloss black, looks well finished. Are the tunnels the last bit of the pipe that sit inside the rings that fit to the diffuser? Are the standard trim rings metal?

yeah the exhaust finishes way before the bumper , the tailpipes that attach to the diffuser have a built in deflector/heatshield

  Clio 200 Silverstone
Yes that makes sense, so the trim that fits into the diffuser go back to meet the exhaust ends and overlap? It looks like the garage has tack welded a short piece of pipe onto the exhaust and then attached a chrome end (bodged job)! The replacement ends are in the post to me.

Cheers ......

Yes I can't drive too far until I get the ends fitted! May have to call my local Renault dealer and pick some up sooner.

Thanks for your help.

Shocking!

I have my silver rings sitting around so if you are close, you are more than welcome to borrow them. As already said you are missing the heat shields that direct the heat away from the diffuser so personally i would not drive the car at all as it will melt as a result.

I'm near Bristol. The garage sent the originals back to Renault with the cracked diffuser, they didn't receive new ones with the replacement apparently. What sort of price are they?

I would not worry too much about price as its not your problem. It will be the garage who will need to replace them.

  Clio 200 Silverstone
Unbelievable! The garage did say the diffuser was £700 +, I guess that includes the exhaust trims?

Does anyone have a photo of them not fitted?

  Clio 200 Silverstone
Spoken to Renault this morning, parts aren't too expensive (OEM what do you expect)! Trim rings are about £50 with vat each, heat sheild tapered pipes are around the same price each, so about £200 for the lot! Diffuser out of interest is £710 + vat unpainted, ouch!
