Clio 182 stalling

Hi All,

For starting info:
Had new alternator and battery fitted last month, also had full Cambelt plus the extras and retimed by a specialist.

My 182 is having a little issue at the minute it starts ok it idles at 1100ish when cold then slowly works it's way down to 850 which is normal I hear. The problem normally start when I have too much electric being used in the car such as the heaters etc on full blast, I can stall the car 99% of the time when I'm pulling forward near a parking space on full lock ready to reverse I drop the clutch and the revs drop right down to minimum and then the car stalls. What could be causing this!? Is the power steering taking too much power as I haven't had this happen on any other car? Also with my heaters on full blast when I slow down for junctions my revs will drop to nearly 200 and the headlights go dim for a second :s.

Hi mate have you cleaned the throttle body this was happening to mine i cleaned it and it was fine after that mate

Yeah I did buddy but didn't have any change could this issue be caused by a faulty switch within the air intake? As I was debating on swapping it for another unit but not sure if it's the cause!

I'd be looking at the new alternator you've had fitted. Is it the correct one?

110amp version needed for a 182.

Might be worth scanning it for errors mate.

It's definitely the 110amp one it's a reconditioned one with a year warranty

Also it shows no fault codes

I had this i changed o2 sensor all ok ,I think the old 1 was a cheap nasty 1 my mate had same problem both ok now get a good quality sensor hope this helps cheers phil.

It did have an o2 sensor fault but I took it to my local garage and they fixed it, he is a mechanic friend but be is a bit all over the shop so I don't even know if he charged my for the work but on the other hand I don't know what he did all I know is the engine light is gone and it hasn't come back! But I'll have to get hold of him and see what he did! Another thing I'm going to look into is maybe a new coil pack and ht leads. Cheers

So you have cleaned TB & changed pre cat o2 sensor .Rescan could be throttle position sensor possible .good luck .

Well to update where I am, I have booked the car in for a diagnostic check this Friday but in the mean time I spoke to my local garage I have had a few jobs with and he says it's worth replacing the power steering pressure switch. I went to Renault and purchased one just to see if it will help, I'll try and fit it today and then give any info on if it's helped! Thanks all

Just to update the sensor didn't fix my problem, I'm still booked into a specialist for a check this Friday so I'll update then. Cheers
