Just be mindful of the post cat sensor. Mine was fine, then this weekend I fitted a new exhaust which has made the cat sit higher, that and pulling the engine forward has pushed the post cat sensor into the heatshield and gear linkage which then blows the fuel pump fuse when it shorts. Now I need a new sensor!

This worked for me also on my cup,losen engine mount and pull engine towards you and then tighten.I think its exhaust that knocks on the bulkhead.

Thanks all. Have tried and tested yet, but, I did manage to move the engine forward a fair bit yesterday.
Also had a chance to photograph top mount setup. Does all look correct?
These are the top hats. The nut appears to spin on one of them but is fixed on the other. No idea if that’s correct.
I’m sure that it’s separate to the knock and hopefully the engine position is the culprit. Will try tomorrow when the weathers improved.

Looks all good to me. Obviously, I can't see all of it, but I assume this is how it's assembled.

Yes from memory, this is exactly the setup/order. I didn’t realise there were two types of top mount until researching this past week.
Every 172 I’ve owned has already had the updated design without the spacer but. Cheers
