cat mod + centre section removed + matched/painted inlets = :)

  b/g 182, meg tourer
well as the miltek centre section sounded like the baffles had gone, myself and luke at jabbasport decided it would be the sensible option to cut it out and weld a straight pipe in its place. as it needed a little cutting and welding anyway i remembered reading D4ve's thread http://clio-motorsport.blogspot.com/...ification.html so i decided i was going to do that too.

here is the cat and centre section before...

and here is the cat cut and welded (stainless welds) to a full 2.5" bore straight to the back boxes...

also while the car was at jabbasport, i had the inlets matched and painted. no before and after photos of the matching im afraid, neither do i have it on a rr. but the mid torque feels improved, and they look great imo.
so here they are...

and here is a quick vid of how the exhaust now sounds. miltek with modified std cat to 2.5" and centre silencer removed...

anyone intrested in getting matched inlets can contact jabbasport on 01733211779. they are very reasonable and have a very good/friendly bunch of staff and a great reputation in the vag world. i also spoke to them about a possible group buy on arb's as they make them for a range of vag cars. they need at least 20 people to keep prices down, guessing they will be about £200 (thats a guess for now). they are very high quality and can be made adjustable or non adjustable. they recommend non adjustable tho. im going to start a thread soon to drum up some interest, so keep your eyes peeled.

cheers for looking
luke

oh and by the way... far better with the centre section removed and the cat mod rather than a decat imo. no hassle with mot's or police. and you get just as good if not better noise than a decat gives you and its not boomy or too loud with normal driving but as soon as you plant your foot it brings a smile to your face :) great mod for the money!

it wasn't fully up to temp but it is raspy anyway when its warm. going to upload a moving vid in a few mins so you can hear it. love how it pops when its cold! better than a decat anyday imo! fallen in love with the car again.
mid torque is definately improved from the matched inlets. so happy with all of the work that has been done :)

here is a moving vid on a very empty country road near my house. the car was fully up to temp.
the vid doesn't quite do it justice, in the metal you can hear the induction noise and the raspy exhaust together, loving the sound

miltek, cat mod to 2.5", no silencer, std airbox, itg filter, matched inlets.

might be interested in getting my centre section removed luke, could jabba do that for me? my miltek sounds s**t atm.
ill have a listen when/if we have another meet :)

Car looks good mate
:)

Interesting.

How much did the exhaust mod cost you Luke?

well, thats the thing. i am good friends with luke at jabbasport and his family so i get good rates when i go there. so for matched inlets, painted inlets, cat modification to 2.5" bore and centre section removal/stainless steel welded, all for £110 :)

Sounds great mate!

thanks :)

Honestly that sounds awesome. Would love mine to sound as good as that. Out of interest ive got a standard exhaust on mine. Fiited prior to me buying it. Havent got the funds at the mo to go and buy a new system. On a budget whats a good way of making it that bit louder. Cars a Ph1 172. Thanks

Buy my longlife system, great sound if you want a loud exhaust!

Don't want much either ;)

that video was what made me remove the centre section :) cheers for that christopher. to be honest its pretty raspy as it is, i just dont like the mot hassle of a decat, or lack of insurance or a headache from the girlfriend moaning that its too loud ;) lol

thanks. on a budget, the best way of making it louder/better sounding would be to remove the centre silencer section, remove the top feed to the airbox and the acoustic valve.

Wheres the front bit of the inlet gone? The bit that sticks out whatever its called?!

the fuel rail guard is off atm. took it off for them to paint and left it off, not really needed tbh. just extra weight. oh and stops the car blowing up in a front ender apparentely.

cheers mate. really happy with the bay. not a lot done to it tho really. i dont like fussy engine bays, it works and its tidy enough for me :)

Normally i don't like painted engines, but that looks nice and tidy.

thank you sir.

yeah, i have got them working on french cars now. lol. luke at jabba secretly loves french cars ;) imo they did a fantastic job and i couldn't recommend them enough! they would port/polish and paint your inlets no trouble mate.

mate how much was the cat mod? u can pm me the price if you want. thanks

price is in earlier post. as said i am good friends with the jabba family so i am lucky enough to get reduced rates. was £110 for matched inlets, painted inlets, center section removed and cat cut open to 2.5" all the way to the backbox's.
for a price on just the cat mod i would give jabba a call or a local exhaust specialist.

What type of paint is that mate, looks nice and tidy, not into glossy in the engine bay

my missus works for a metal company so i got her to pick me up some 2 1/2 inch stainless tube, gonna hopefully get it engineered to be a pattern part as the centre silencer but obviously just a straight through pipe. think you may have started a mini trend luke ;)

cool, that should work. i did away with the joint on the back of the cat (as you can see in the pics) as it just tends to blow/leak. best to just cut the back end joint of the cat off and just weld the pipe straight on :) not my trend tho mate... christopher, dave and a few others were there first. well worth the money/effort tho.

not really sure, its not high temp or anything. pretty much just mattew black paint.

yeah im not going to do the cat thing just yet, although i do want too. gonna get this bit engineered then go from there, i had a look and it can be easily done at a later date from what im doing :)

our cars are basically the same lol i keep copying you

If someone wants to save a few quid then I am selling my modded cat like the OPs for £40 plus your cat.

whats the reason for selling mate? i guess it passed mot of as i guess its the flow rate that changes not the emmissions.

Im selling the car and so putting it back to standard. I'm selling my milltek with straight through centre section too and this would compliment it nicely but I need a standard cat to fit my standard exhaust.

£40 + their cat is a bargain don't you agree :)

  b/g 182, meg tourer
aah, i see. makes sence now. i would say that £40 + their cat is a great deal. saves whoever buys it the hassle of finding somewhere to do it!

  b/g 182, meg tourer
thought i would just add another quick photo i took in the week because i like it. lol.
after speaking the the guys at jabba, they said looking at my inlets before (rs stamped ones) it was definatly worth matching them, they were unimpressed with the stock matching. they took aut at least another mm. so it still makes sence to match the inlets if you have the rs stamped ones.

so here is the pic :)
