cam belt snapped rebuild or new engine

as im new to clios thought some of you guys might have gone through pain befor is worth rebuild or look round for new engine?

as above , depending on the damage , but i always rebuild where possible , much better imo.

problem with 2nd hand engines is that you never can tell if its a nail or not unless you physically see it in the car before they remove it.

id go for rebuild, even if its a bit more money. least then you know its new.

Personally I'd rebuild. That way I'd know it's been done right and your not inheriting a potentially dodgy replacement engine.

How? Serious question! Here's a rough, all be it, estimated breakdown based on DIY not garage:

Head rebuild by local engineering shop - (depending on number of valves required) - £75-200
Head gasket - £33
Head Bolts - £13
Timing belt kit - £87
Consumable service items (Oil, filter, coolant) - £70

Total = £278-403

Buy a decent 2nd hand engine - £300-550
Timing Belt kit - £87
Consumable service items (Oil, Filter, Gearbox oil, Coolant) - £85

Total = £472-722

Its an easy DIY job over a weekend to
