Cam belt jump!!!!!

  Clio 182 cup
Of of the pulleys decided to snap whilst on idle, and jumped a few teeth... Put a new belt on and re times the engine.... But there's a slight knock from the head? Dropped valve??

You'd have to EXTREMELY lucky not to of bent valves when it originally went. Infact, has anyone ever experienced one that hasn't smashed valves on these?

Not sure when it was last done, only on 60k, got the car on 56k, ended up taking the head off, looks as if the valves have been hitting but no bent valves Just got to lap them all back in and put it all back together and pray haha!

Well it looks like someone has attacked it with a dremel - badly!

A few things - firstly, did you compression test it? If so, what were the results?

How have you checked the valves? They could have a very minor bend that wouldn't be visible to the naked eye.

Do you have the full set of timing tools? If not, it's 100% not going to be timed up correctly. Best case losing you a bit of power, worst case causing serious damage.

What type of noise was it making? Finally I'm struggling to understand how you can snap a pulley but only jump a few teeth? Which pulley snapped?

  dan's cast offs.
you need a vac test done on the head to check the valves. if you haven't bent at east eight you have been very very very lucky.

Dephasors fine, when I put the new belt on and locked it all up with tools, the engine wouldn't rotate forwards as sonething was hitting, wound it backwards then forwards again and it would turn, rotated it a few times but sounded like a slight tap from Pistons 1 and 4 so just took the head off to be safe than sorry

Heads cleaned up ok, looks good to me but when taking the valves out I lost a collet that holds the valves in.... £3 for one of them... Haha and decided to replace all the valves just incase they are fuked, Gonna carry it on in the new year, tools down Beer in hand
