advice required before i possibly buy a 172cup

ok so went to have a look at a 172 cup and the bloke told me it would not start but said i could try, the red immobaliser light stayed on and it turned over for 2 seconds and stopped and then wouldn't turn over at all. so the next day he took it to a renault specialist (wests) and they diagnosed a flat battery, this sounds a bit odd to me surely it would turn slowly and the lights on dash would go dim (they didn't). any thoughts?

I've had similar issues that were battery related on the 1.2, all the electrics would work, lights, windows, radio but wouldn't turn over, new battery sorted it though.

tell him to stick a battery in it then go see it again

well i've brought it and its had a new battery, renault diagnosed battery so should be fine

Mine did that when the battery was flat. Wouldn't even turn over. Changed the battery and all good.
