17 finally! MY FIRST CAR .... OBVIOUSLY ITS A CLIO ;)!!!

Well....i've turned 17!!!! finally :Dafter working so hard to save up some cash i've bought this beautiful car! Pretty much standard with a few mods that don't effect insurance (as I'm 17 and male :boring: ) :approve: Im going for the euro style on this as its something i love! steel wheels etc any idea of what i could do????? let me know :cool: (be nice also I'm a newbie) :)

Sure. Click go advanced, and below the text box, click manage attachments. in the top right corner upload a pic. Close the window and it should be attached (i.e. listed next to 'manage attachments')

wish my first car was that nice, well done. Now keep your licence pointless for the next 2 years and dont drive like a clown like the rest of the 17 year olds on the road these days :)

Personally, id just leave it as it is and enjoy driving it.

Perhaps even do some track days to really learn how to drive/explore the limits of your car/talent in a relatively safe environment :)

i don't plan to do any thing extreme with it :) i just love how simple it is tbh! just do some little tweaks similar to what I've done already (like wrapping the roof in black!) you recommend any places to do a track day? :)

You say you've done modifications that don't effect insurance, have you notified them of the modifications though?

I can't see your insurance staying the same with modifications. Just a warning really in case you crash, insurance are getting hot on it these days, as are forum members on here ;)

cheers guys :) projector lights sounds nice! i would like to get it lowered slightly but getting in touch with insurance company soon to ask them if it will affect me... keeping all engine parts stock! just mainly changing little exterior details. ALSO anyone know how to remove the Renault badges? wanted to wrap them in carbon :)

This. Get used to the car first and see which way you want to head in terms of mods. Things like larger alloys tend to be much heavier than the smaller OEM wheels (unless you pay a decent wedge for them) and they will also hammer your acceleration on a small engined car. Been there, done that. ;)

As Danny says too - check with insurance on what they will allow and what they won't. Some insurers actually listen (yes, I know - it is hard to believe) - and give useful feedback in the process. Admiral whom I'm currently with, allow the car to be lowered by 40mm or 50mm (can't remember the exact figure just now) - meaning that Eibach's are safe to declare without being penalised greatly in the process. When I declared the ITG panel filter, the KTR exhaust and the Eibachs, it only added approx £35 to my policy. Well worth it imo to be fully declared in the advent of an accident/recovered theft, etc.

Unfortunately there really is no such thing as mods that don't affect the insurance when it comes to mainstream companies. Better safe than sorry so give your [potential] insurance company a ring first before you spend £££ on parts. Even specialist brokers/underwriters like Brentacre still often need to know what's on the car even if mods are included in your premium. I.e. or we could all say "my car got stolen and it has an F1 engine in it, I demand a payout of £2.5m"
