Yep, thats me :o
Motors TV ran a whole programme on novice racing, it was fun to be centre of attention, but relieving to complete the race intact tbh!!
The race was good, certainly some varied abilities and wide variety of cars - I had immense fun chasing down a 944 from the class above and...
Hi Mark - yes, the retaining wedge was still in there. The pads are Ferodo DS2500 and I cant really see how the hell it could have come out! It was the inside one, I can only imagine when things get hot that the caliper expands slightly? I'm going to find a way to wire them in for next time.
Chip - are you on 15's or 16's ? What profile? RSR does sound the way to go - had some interesting convos today with the mechanic putting my cage (and now some of the final setup stuff) onto my car about camber - every day REALLY is a school day it turns out!
cheers guys - thats helpful indeed.
Looks like R1R might be best (only!?) option anyway, as 595RSR are only available in 205/45/16 afaik - though is that 20mm going to make a difference comparing dry to wets!?! Aaarrgh!
gonna sleep on it and talk to some people tomorrow..
Sorry, should have thought this through more and checked the regs first....! just checked - tyres MUST be from MSA list 1a or 1b, so basically road tyres.

Absolutely, don't need road use compromise, full wets would be pref, but, and please excuse if a stoopid question, but which ones as ice never bought any?!
Have been running Yokohama A048 225/45/16 in the dry and they were superb, but with a race coming up in November, it's just gonna be wet or very wet judging by current weather patterns!
what wet tyres are you using, and what do you recommend?
They do have to be 16's at the mo as I can't get...
Thats impressive! Do you have any pics of what your dash looks like now as I am currently on a mission to strip more out of my cup and in the process of removing as much dash bits as I can. Would be really helpful to see what you ended up with. Did you lose the Airbag ECU too, or just strip it...
Aha!
Think I've cracked it - I had bought 3.3K Ohm resistors by mistake - so they would have been 1000x too resistive! I now have ordered some 3.3 Ohm ones which should be just right, and I've got my head round it now and plan to do the same as poriodan and remove everything BAR the ECU and...
Was stripping out the old car this weekend, and now have all the parts aside and checked, ready to fit to the NEW race car..
Everything came out well and all seem fine, the poor clio body took all the brunt of the impact, so my new RSX setup is ok too.
However, when I removed the rear brakes I...
hi poriodan - what spec resistors did you use and did you follow the guide on here soldering about 8 or so of them in? I have some 3.3ohm resistors but not sure they are right as couldnt get them to work on my old car..
Needed to re-bump this thread..
I have a ph2 172 cup race car and am seeking to do same - want to strip all airbag and pretensioner bits and wiring out - I have tried 3.3ohm resistors in the past with no success - is there a known fix now that enables complete removal of all airbag ecu parts?
Did anyone ever solve the requirement to remove the ecu, airbags and pretensioners in a race / track car?
I am part way through a stripout and would really like a neat solution to remove the excess wiring and heavy modules / components. I will give the resistor fix a go (as I understand...
Cheers tony - read a few of your threads too - looking good!
Forgot to mention, got 4th in class at snetterton, out of 10 and beat several class b's too. was delighted!
Onwards and upwards!
