    And its goodbye from me!

Thanks for that. Looks like a good repair system! Didn't know you could do that. Just one question. Where does all the swarf go from tapping out the hole? Surely that will end up damaging the piston and housing?

It popped a spark plug the other day and has been 'repaired' to keep it going, but no guarantee it will last as the thread had almost all gone from the head. 172 valve adjustments

My 172 has just started with the dreaded clacking valves! Can anyone tell me how difficult/easy it is to do and what order do you check and which method to use!! I have a Haynes manual which gives two different methods, but as that does not cover the 172 is there a method specific to this model??

your insurance cost & who you're with at what age? sport models only

I don't know where some of you are getting quotes from, but as a 44 year old male with over 10 years NCB, no points, no mods and have owned the car for four years, my cheapest quote was with Kwik Fit and I still pay £54 a month. Complete rip off. If you know of ANYONE who is driving without...

    Locking wheel nuts

be careful with locking wheel nuts, especially when you take the car to a garage that uses air powered tools to remove and fit wheel nuts. They over tighten them, then you cant get them off. I had to pay £50 to get one chiselled off! b******s they are to get off if your special tool gets damaged.

    front suspension springs

I need to replace my front springs on my standard 172. Does anyone know where I can get standard height springs from at a good price without compromise on quality?? Renault are currently charging £51 all in at the mo. I am not interested in lowering or stiffening the set up!!

    Rear pad fitting..

As they say an easy job, just don't forget to make a note of how the anti rattle springs fit!

    brake pad changing

both front and back pads are an easy replacement. A Haynes manual is a good idea. Don't forget to make a note of how the anti rattle springs go back on or it could turn into one of those silly metal puzzles you get in a Christmas cracker!
